    steering wheel is rank!

There was a piece in LRO I think it was last month, shows someone selling specific leather covers for that steering wheel that you stitch into place so it looks legit, was quite pricey though, will see if I can find the name of the place who did it

    Multi plug in footwell disconnected?

I'm not at home now until thursday (bloody olympics) will update when I get back Funnily enough the ABS light comes and goes on ignition 2...probably been looped into the oil pressure light lol

    Multi plug in footwell disconnected?

Had a bit of a google and this is the best I can come up with... Most of the ecu's look to be small-ish and plastic. That one has quite a lot of pins and metal! It either looks like one of these or one of these Searching reckons an EDC ecu is on the drivers side though.... There's definitely...

    Multi plug in footwell disconnected?

Yeah the plug looks the same size, just wondered if anyone knew what that ECU was for...with the funky alarm problems I've had I was a bit wary of plugging it in and not being able to start it again! I'll give it a go when I get back home. Could be either grey pubes or the previous owner had a...

    Multi plug in footwell disconnected?

In the footwell of my disco there's a large multi plug with a rubber shroud laying there. Thought nothing of it until today when the battery drained and the immobiliser/alarm decided to act up (jump start sorted that) Found a large silver box above that this plug looks like it should fit...

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

I've ****ed in a generators coolant tank to keep it going before, my **** (and my mates) is probably still in it now!

D2 TD5 Auto Loosing Coolant / NOT overheating!!??

If it only loses water when static and only in certain positions I'd suspect water pump, I've had them intermittently leak like that before. Park a bit further back!

    300tdi problems

If you've still got the old engine it might be worth taking your old pump just in case! I would be checking the stop solenoid (swap your old one in!), check fuel supply to injector pump (ie is the lift pump knackered), and the fuel pipework. I had a problem on a 200 where it started and just...

    IVA hybrid question

I looked into this in depth, contacted DVLA etc. definite answer was ANY chassis mods require an IVA and because your vehicle is then using a 'modified' chassis you get a Q plate. It seems different testers interpret it differently though which doesn't help!

    Glow plugs.

That was going to be my second suggestion :)

1997 2.5 tdi, engine washed now won't start

Stop solenoid, probably have an immobiliser on that one so it'll be at the back of the injector pump with some wires coming out

    Glow plugs.

Mine starts piece of **** even without glow plugs due to it being direct injection, I'm gonna throw something else out there, when was the fuel filter last changed?

300tdi gearbox or transfer box upgrade?

I don't think such a thing exists, usually the upgrading of ratios etc is on defenders, and the solution is to use a discovery transfer box....

    300tdi problems

Sounds like immobiliser if jumping from the starter works, have you got cable or electronic throttle as if its electronic that'd explain nothing from throttle. Either that or stop solenoid just letting enough juice past for it to tick over, and the immobiliser is keeping it (almost) shut as well?

    Wanted Dead or Alive

If you get stuck I've got a 1988 RRC 3.5 v8 EFI sat here with a knackered head gasket and a snapped clutch fork. Located in Rugby CV23 so not very local, but if you're desperate it's here and probably will be for the foreseeable!
  17. TheKeymeister

Any guesses on what caused this?

Haha, it was well stuck to the block, the spanners didn't give enough leverage, so off to the garden shed it was... Came off piece by piece in the end

Swapping tyres around, will it work

You make a good point, they do make the rangie look like a tractor though so might just about look normal on the series, I'll hold a wheel up to it and see how it goes

Swapping tyres around, will it work

Ok so at the moment I have a set of Greenway Macho tyres on RRC 3 spoke alloys. I want to put them on the defender steelies I have that I then plan to fit onto my series 3... The Greenway Macho tyres are just marked as "205 R16" The existing tyres on the defender wheels are marked as...
