My TD5 disco which is completely standard spec, gets 28 mpg on a 15 mile run. I can get 30 mpg if I take it nice and steady on a long run, say over 100 miles. When towing my 6.5 metre RIB weighing around 1.5 tonnes fully fueled, I can get it down to 22 mpg.

Talk to the boys at Durham 4x4. (Tel 0191 3778761) They will opt for D2. They bought a D3 then got rid of it and bought another D2.

Have you used the key-on, key-off process to bleed the fuel system of air? If you have ran out of diesel, or got low and lost suction going up-hill then you can get air in the system and it will run rough.

Could it be coming in through the window seal? Check for corrosion around the seal. Sometimes thawing snow will seep through the edge of the window seal. Regards, Brian

I guess it depends on what you're going to use it for. I carry dive kit and tow a boat. It's great for that.... loves heavy loads. Self levelling suspension on the back end.... great for carrying heavy stuff...

Just checked my 04 Disco TD5 again Now has 72K on the clock. Commuting to and from work, 10 miles each way, I got 30.5 mpg. Not at all bad!

I've got a 2004 TD5 disco with 71,000 miles on the clock. I'm doing 29 mpg going to work and back, which is 10 miles each way.

Hope it goes well. You never know, you may actually have found a garage offering fair value for money. If they do a good job, then they're worth going back to. I've been checking on-line and found a LR specialist just a few miles along the road from where I live. Next time my Disco goes...

It could be that they only want to do warranty work. That way, they can charge the earth for parts and man-hours, and only Land Rover can complain?? They quote massive charges for simple jobs because they don't really want the job. It's not lucrative enough???

My off-side rear suspension spring leaked on my 2004 TD5 discovery and so I called the Land Rover Service Centre, Stratstones at Houghton-le-Spring near Sunderland to ask them to quote for suplying and fitting two new air suspension springs. The service manager quoted £696 incl Vat...

The rubber bump stop that stops the axle from hitting the chassis when negotiating over big bumps has dropped off the chassis. It was originally glued to the underside of the chassis. Any ideas on what sort of adhesive could be used to stick it back on? Many thanks..... Brian
