    Off Road in TD5

Just goes to show, you don't really need all that off road stuff bolted on to your disco. A good set of tyres and you would have ****ed it.

    4 X 4 virgin

A range rover on LPG. If you're not gonna go off road with it you defo want a range rover. I'd go for a 4.0 se on gas, still got plenty of toys etc. Look for a full service history and one or two owners. They are the king of 4x4s for a reason!

    Discovery ramps...

Get a couple of sleepers from a reclaim yard. I just cut the ends to a ramp and they are spot on.

    Evidence of Tuning?

If it has been remapped it won't be obvious, some owners fitted plug ins etc, these would be easier to spot. You could take it somewhere like 5alive, they should be able to tell you.

    300tdi SPIDER _ HELP

It sounds as if the spider is playing up. Easy fix, you can get a landrover part to replace the spider. There's a thread on here somewhere about it. The part costs about 7 quid from the dealers (it's a very common problem.

central locking and electronics pls help!

You have probably got the "spider" wet. This controls the items you having problems with. You can get a landrover part for a few quid. This allows you to remove the unreliable spider unit. You may have got other electronis wet also but i reckon it'll be the spider.

Walk away and get a tdi! By time you've sourced the parts and counted the cost, you could have got a good tdi anyway.

    Sender unit

I paid 80 quid for mine. They are a big unit unlike the 200 tdi. Have you cheked your unit to see what is wrong? If you take the unit out theres a wire, it's a bare copper type, easy to spot, this come away and causes the sender to work when it feels like it or to give up completely. It can be...

Get yourself a good basic spec 300 tdi, a late one with no sunroof etc, make sure it has a good service history and get the usual things checked i.e rust, electrics etc. Just make sure it comes from a good home and it's been looked after. There are loads about so you an be choosy.

    Leccy windows

The passenger side window that is slipping will be the regulator. Take the door card off and operate the switch, you should see the regulator working. Sometimes the window comes out if the guide. As for the other windows, if they don't work at all start with fuses, switches etc and check inside...

    De- egr

Now you've done the egr, you want to flush the intercooler out if you haven't already done it. You'll be amazed how much crap comes out and it should improve power and economy further. I noticed the difference big time.

    boot repair panel

Probably best to weld it in as stated. I have seen a piece on the difflock website where someone riveted one in, and as it has a seperate chassis i can't see why it can't be riveted or bonded in place. But i would go for the welding option.

    Discovery radio / cassette removal

They do respond to tuning, very well. I was talking to someone who had took their td5 to a firm called td5 alive. He reckons it goes like hell (for a disco).

    newbiee with questions

You'll be fine with the landy if you can handle a vauxhall. They are very easy to work on when you get going. They come apart and go back together easily in my opinion. Get yourself a manual and you'll be sorted.

    newbiee with questions

The egr is on the exhaust manifold. i'm sure there's a tutorial on difflock about it also. You don't need to buy anything, I just took it off removed the gasket cut a blanking plate in the same shape as the gasket and put it back on with the blanking plate between the egr and the gasket. The...
