Hi all, has anyone repaired one of the alloy aircon pipes?, the small (6mm) alloy pipe on my car has rotted out under the "p" clip on the wing, landrover want £105 for it, i was thinking if a compression joint would be ok ?.

You could try adding your location, it may help me not to bother in future.

You could get a car audio shop to install an immobilizer, cost approx £120, may lower the insurance a bit.

I f you purchased the car as a normal sale from the garage they must fix it by law , go back to them.

if EDC maybe throttle potentiometer ?, could be worth reading any fault codes stored.not sure if EDC pumps like veggie oil.

I bet Landrover wished they thought of the fuel magnet, just think of the extra mpg in the brochure !!:D. Now i'm off to oil my snake !

I'm no expert by any means, but if it were my car i would change the pump first, being cheaper than the box, assuming fluid levels are ok & belt still on. Have you checked the steering column & joints?

I paid £6.50 delivered (fleabay) for a 60ml bottle, still have half left so you dont need loads.

Just squirt some under the top windscreen seal, it runs down the sides and down the water drain / a post, it is thin like water & white in colour,dries clear, about 3 goes did it, ideal for small leaks & cracks in mastic, it wont fill a rust hole !.

.. And his creeping crack cure, which has sealed up the small leak around the windscreen on me 300tdi, i now have a dry carpet (as tested today by a good bit o rain):)

I have just ordered a genuine filter & sumpwasher from fleabay for £8 ish delivered, i would not fit a pattern one when a genuine one aint dear.

Good luck with the 'box change Graham, it may be a good idea to put some thick ply squares under your axle stands to spread the load on the gravel, you dont want a stand leaning over at the wrong moment !.

I have owned both, current car is an auto tdi. As i dont do much off road,and car is mainly for caravan & trailer towing , i prefer the auto over the manual. No difference in speed, economy a little lower round town, no difference on motorway once overdrive is locked in (50 mph ish), horses for...

maybe pop off the rocker cover & check rockers + pushrods, then get belt done.
