hi thanks for replys im in dorchester, dorset, have contacted the garage again and they said it was removed purely because it has worn the tyres on the inside, they are going to re fit it for me, but that still leaves me with the problem of my tyres wearing, should i start a new question on this...

have done max 20,000 miles on vcu and 1600 miles on new tyres

thanks for replys, mine has done 1600 miles on new tyres, yes it is the inside edge of the tyre that has worn could this be something other than the vcu then? how do i find out more? went to local landrover garage today and they said get rid of it and get a 2001

hi they dissconnected the prop as my brand new back tyres have worn around the inside, have done max 20,000 (proberly not even this) it also had a bad oil seal leak on the gear box which was fixed

i bought my freelander (1998 2l) 1 year ago and it had just had both of these replaced before i bought it, and now the garage has dissconnected the prop and its only 2wd (no use to me, although cheaper to run!) i dont really understand technical terms but i think what they were saying was it had...

thanks that helps our 200tdis we had had nearly 300 thousand miles on clock when my other half blew them up!! they were towing 3t diggers most days until then though without too many probs just clutchs popping all the time, the odd head going, i was impressed with them, and my other half fixed...

or maybe they are ive seen the other replys now, i only drive short trips! but need big 4x4 for towing, couldnt tell you what my 200tdi or 300tdi did as they ran on cherry, till i got caught x2 :(

wow thats quite good, i wouldnt have a clue what my freelander does mpg, i put £40 a week in it and get 200 miles (well i did when it was 4x4, now its not im getting more!) im guessing discos arnt much more expensive to run thanks

thinking about buying a td5 disco, had 200 and 300 b4 but now have freelander, just wondering what mpg you lot get from yours?? manual or auto, anything else i should watch out for when looking at one, common faults, reliability etc etc many thanks

thanks for reply, does this also happen with the newer freelanders? mine had vcu and ird last year, vitara cant tow as much weight as the freelander, rav 4 lower again, how does the new car tax affect say a 2002/3 freelander or disco? although endless money pits they do seem to be evryones...

thanks for reply, i have been looking at the kia and discos on autotrader, quite pricy! didnt want to go over £4000 if i can help it, also been looking at the nissan terrano any views? they look horrible but may have to comprimise on looks? the x trail is the same as the freelander can only pull...

thanks for replys, what are the discos like for going wronge? my other half has a 300 tdi now and we have had 200tdi, we have had problems with head gaskets on the 300, are there any common faults i should look for on a td5 disco? will have a look at the other makes but if i need to tow the mam...

it flashes all the time but not fast just a constant flash

my other half has a 300 tdi that wont start, windows wont go up or down, nothing works, changed battery still no, didnt come with alarm fob tried to program one too it but it wouldnt have it, indicators flash, some ignition lights come on when key turned, could it be the alarm palying up? can...

oh and gear box overhaul is approx £700 + parts, hasnt leaked any water since i got it back from garage (thur) so will keep an eye on it but looking good for that, but if i get the gearbox overhauled then im still not legal to tow the ponies and i wouldnt want to risk them getting hurt, discos...
