    TD5 not warming up

I have taken the fan off our TD5 discovery for the winter to help warm up - no problems even towing the horse trailer up steep long inclines.....

Does your Disco II have hair suspension?

Ours is the most basic version, and all the better for it!!! Coils, no sunroofs, no aircon, etc far less to go wrong. Tows the horse trailer absolutely fine really cannot see a need for over complication in what is for us at least a utility vehicle.

    egr removal bolt snapped ahhhhh

Everyone is saying WD 40 but proper penetrating oil like plus gas is far better, WD is not a penetrating oil as such.... Mine came out without a problem but I did use coppaslip on the new ones when I put them in.....

Newbie - about to take the plunge ...

It's usual to get 12 months MOT when selling a car to give the buyer confidence, I would insist on a fresh MOT or no deal

    chassis rot

    chassis rot

Yes I have built two kit cars, and rebuilt a classic mini totally from scratch. The only issue really is cost, as during the rebuild you would inevitably find lots of bits that you would replace and the cost builds up quite alarmingly!!!

    is the Immobilizer set?

Don't worry this is a friendly forum but there is a protocol, unlike other forums. Just ignore the adverse comments (but do put a bit in the intro section please) and be sure to contribute yourself. There's an awful lot of knowledge on here............stick around.

    chassis rot

So there's a good business for someone out there to gear up with the right lifting gear and a modest production line to do Disco chassis changes at a decent price......have to say all the alternatives I have looked at have failings, and it will be hard to get a sensible replacement for my TD5...

Disco 2 elecric fault, please help!!!!

well you've done the obvious, guess it now means there is a short further on probably between the stalk wiring and the indicator flasher unit. Unplug the loom from the stalk, and try and work out what circuits should be closed and when then use a meter to try and locate the fault. Look first for...

    Bloody Electrics

have you tried the key in the drivers door, manual unlock?

    chassis rot

Thanks Dave found that after........but 2600kg is enough, so it would be a viable replacement. Will use a bit more fuel and as stated is worse in snow and poor conditions, all points to what a versatile vehicle the Discovery 2 was, damned shame they didnt spend a few quid galvanising the...

    chassis rot

Nissan Navara Towing limit seems very low, web site says over a ton, autotrader 1600kg, no good for our horse trailer!!!

    chassis rot

Yes true but what could you replace it with for similar money
  18. M

What have you pulled with your discovery?

Yep same here, ancient Ifor Williams with normally one 16.2 horse, two now and again! Our trailer needed new floor, and I was reluctant to spend the money but the trailer guy reckoned our old IW would outlast the newer ones, which apparently are not as solid. Disco averages 27 mpg (TD5...

    Clutch Travel

We have packed our clutch pedal up by about 15mm, so that it is as high as the brake, we found it made it easier as my wife and I are both short!!! As far as I know, the clutch is not adjustable, and yes they are a bit "unusual" .........

Disco 3 - how much better?

I have done a fair bit of research as a result of which we are keeping our disco 2. Yes it may be a bit agricultural and ours starts vibrating at 58, so thats our maximum, but we use it for towing a horse trailer and in bad weather, so we dont need a ballistic missile! Why not buy a diesel...
