    Wave Etiquette

I get a reasonble number of waves around Basingstoke, but have to pick out the snobs and utility companies to avoid a non response. Best was the guy in a SIIA who stopped and let me out at a T junction, forcing several cars behind him to wait until we had both got up to speed again...

How much fuel are you using

Very low - my 110 is cinsitently manageing 30-32mpg, albeit I drive her very gently. That's a mix of town, commute through traffic and long motorway runs.

    Half Shaft

Strange that - three local places said they were unavailable - yet a quick google and they're everywhere!? Anyway - quick test run this morning, and she's fine. Only slight concern is that, with the missing dust cap, the HS came out a few mm - should there be something other than the dust cap...

    bottle jack or hi lift

    Cheers fella - very helpful...:)

    Half Shaft

All back together now - thanks folks for all the advice. Decided to keep the existing stub, as it all went on fine and snug, and have taken the chance to have a good clean round whilst the wheel was off. Only hassle was the fact that we lost a dust cap (will buy a new one if daylight doesn't...

    bottle jack or hi lift

In all seriousness - I fully appreciate changing a wheel with just a HL is dangerous - but is it safe to use a HL to lift the vehicle, drop an axle stand under, and change the wheel with the vehicle supported on an axle stand?

    Half Shaft

Nothing too deep (all <mm) and confined to the centre (where it doesn't contact anything anyway?). Not using new bolts, as the old ones are in reasonable condition...

    bottle jack or hi lift

Rather than start a new thread - i'll add my Q on here, as I'm facing the same dilema. Am currently without a jack, and needing to get one. As I'm a bit tight financially, but wanting a hilift for off road use in the medium term, does it make sense to use a hi-lift for wheel chaning, but drop...

    Half Shaft

Right folks - have now dismantled the hub, discovered it's shot and replaced in. Currently, everything is sat in bits waiting for re-assembly. Got a new set of bearings (guys from Safari fitted them into a spare hub they found for me). Only thing left to wait for is picking up a dab of loctite...

    Half Shaft

Cheers for the suggestion - long past 13mm, but 12mm, WD40 and a breaker bar worked a treat. Even if it slightly awkward working around the spring. To quote the Haynes Manual"loosen the ratianing bolts and remove the caliper". Such simple instructions they give you... PS Finished SECONDS...

    Half Shaft

Got the wheel off - but the star bolts holding the brake caliper are rusted and being f'ing awkward.... any suggestions for persuading them off...?

    Half Shaft

After stripping, turns out the bearing gone, and I just didn't realise how fasr the HS sticks out.....

    Half Shaft

My mini run of bad luck continues - I'm 90% sure the rear halfshaft has gone. I lost drive a couple of times, then regained it after lifting off, then lost all drive (thought the clutch was going at first) and pulled up stopped. Dropping the diff on got it moving (just a few yards to the nearest...

Oh #### - hole in rear diff casing....

Helluva good clean! The rear diff was spotless before addingthe new oil..... As for breather - got a new set from ebay in a kit, so may as well fit the lot?

Oh #### - hole in rear diff casing....

Quick update - rear diff cover arrived, fitted and topped up with EP90 (changed front diff at the same time) absolutely no ill effects after a few hundred miles since - looks like I got lucky.... Am presuming the duff looking oil was water contamination - but am changing the breathers...

    Removing Floor

Nice looking job, will bear that in mind as an option...

    Removing Floor

No, I'm a teacher :) Rusty bolts I can cope with, will start applying WD now....

    Removing Floor

How easy is it to do in a 110? Looking to clean and waxoyl the chassis over my half term hols, and also wanting to fitted extended axle breathers. Lifting the floor out would make it a whole lot easier, but are there any problems to doing this?

Oh #### - hole in rear diff casing....

Already lifted a wheel - no damage to crown wheel teeth at all. Will see what the new plug is like, but good idea on PTFE tape or similar...

Oh #### - hole in rear diff casing....

Should be okay without you mate - would be a touch evil to ask you to crawl underneath in this weather. Nowehere local open that I'm aware of, will order the parts off Paddocks probs, and then get a lift to work...
