    Tub runners on Defender 110

No, it's just a 110 with the 12 seats, no partition or anything. I know its got a bit of a past though, and some bodging may have taken place. hopefully, some pictures will show what I'm on about.

    Tub runners on Defender 110

Directly above the rear seat back rest, there are a pile of rivets that go across the roof from rear door to door. I assumed (dangerous I know), that this was how the whole rear area was stuck together. Bolted from the tub caps onto the sides, then riveted from the top of the side to the roof...

    Tub runners on Defender 110

Hello (again....) The tub runners are buggered (the outer ledge has corroded away in chunks on both sides). The only way I can see of replacing them, is to take the roof off. This is a bit scarey, as it would mean drilling out (unless there is a better way) dozens of pop rivets. I'm not short...

**** of the month & some kenlowe fan help

Ahhh, think that might be the problem then. Have the eletrical / plumbinb instructions and fittings, but there is no documentation about mounting the fan, and no mounting kit stuff apart from brackets. Can't see any of the barbed/long thin fixing kit or rubber feet for that matter. I've...

**** of the month & some kenlowe fan help

Howdy, firstly, was replacing the radiator on my Defender today, in great Edinburgh drizzle (not wet enough to stop, but wet enough to soak you..). After a bit of a wrestle the radiator went in, was just putting on the steady plate on the top and putting on the arms that go from the plate to...

    Sandblasting chassis and paint it?

Evenin all! Have found the landy is fairly rusty downstairs ( 94 110) , am thinking of sandblasting the chassis (got all the kit to do it).. It needs a bit of welding, I only want to go to the welding man once (he always makes me feel like a complete buffoon...), thats why I'd like to tidy it...

Buttock clenching "Thump" noise after gear change in 95 110 Def

Its not drive train lash, I've driven landy's before with work on and off road, its not a normal noise - this one would make you wince! When I get home tonight I'll try your tip and see if its the problem, from the other comments and stuff on the web it certainly sounds like it. Thanks for the...

Buttock clenching "Thump" noise after gear change in 95 110 Def

OK, will check the A-Frame also. Am going to have to get a book, have any of you come across a weighty tomb for the defender that is up to the job? I've looked at the Haynes Vague ("somewhere on your car, are some doors and a windows, replace as required..") but it seems to cover so many...

Buttock clenching "Thump" noise after gear change in 95 110 Def

Righto, I'll give that a bash. As for selling, not until I've tried to bring it back to life, ask me in a couple of months time when i've mashed my hands with the hammer and am partially deaf from the bead blasting I'm going to have to do! Thanks for the info..

Buttock clenching "Thump" noise after gear change in 95 110 Def

Hi, When I change gear and let the clutch out, there's a slight delay before a fairly excruciating "thump" noise comes from behind me. I've no idea if its diff, clutch, transfer box or mountings (or drive shafts/splines etc.) Is this a commonly known fault with defenders or do I just paint it...

    hi from the scottish borders

Howdy, I've just joined today also. Having purchased my first Landy this week, (M reg Defender 110 thats rather sickly) and being skint, I'll be on the scrounge for loads of advice ! I'm in Edinburgh, Scotland, and have set myself a goal of my first off road adventure (though it may well be...
