    on an X you should be clear of chassis/body rot.....but in a nutshell check all the bits were suspension meets chassis...the rear cross member(the big bit under the rear door)....then its bulk head rot from inside the engine bay and down in the fotwells inside......have a luck at the engine oil...

    thats why i said a wheel bearing and an IRD are two different animals.....and from what you wrote then it sounded to me like an IRD.....sadly its a common fault(design fault?) that most seem to suffer from(that and over heating/head gasket) but at least you now know what your looking at before...

    gaylanders have a little doughnut on the drive shaft to the rear....IRD and these are so infamous are breaking down that il bet their even on obamas'to do list'whilst hes putting all the worlds troubles to rights.......but even he cant sort the freelanders IRD troubles.....but a wheel bearing...

    cb radios work on line f sight as they are FM,therefoere the higher you mount it the better your range.....if you look at my foto then you can just see mine upon the light bar,great reception blah blah blah....having said all that then in the real world i rarely find that friends etc when out...

    again.....its hard for anyone to say how long a £500 engine that theyve never seen/heard run is going to last.....as for how long to change....id say a garage would bill a days labour(doesnt have to be a LR specialist)though youd be silly not to have a clutch fitted whilst the engine is out.
