    TD4/L Series Exhaust Life Span

I'm on 134K now on the original exhaust. Mine is in pretty bad shape - the centre box has been filled on two occasions with chemical metal and the straight section has two 'mr sheen' cans, split and smeared with exhaust paste and then jubilee clipped to the existing pipework. I have no leaks...

    Tailgate glass

Very easy to fit. You may have to remove the black surround to allow the door to open with the tailgate glass raised. Then remove the plastic door trim (four screws at bottom). Undo two 10mm bolts, remove glass. Then undo 4 bolts and remove motor and mechanism. The refitting of glass is...

    Freelander IPOD connector

Hi, The ones that I have seen (Blue square plug) only fool trhe head unit into thinking that a CD changer is connected and therefore only input the audio. I have not seen any for the freelander that offer searching of tracks etc. Regards, Steve

Thanks for the info - a spray of GT85 has removed some dust and made it quieter. If it reappears I will remove and clean properly.

Disco 2 TD5 Buzzing near instrument cluster / fusebox

Hi Guys.... Typical - parents go on holiday and I borrow the old mans disco after running them to the airport. I have a buzzing noise coming from somewhere near the instrument cluster of the upper part of the fusebox. Sounds like a small cooling fan... only begins in key position 2 and...

    freelander towbar wiring 2001

I understand your post.... however you can buy the socket, wiring and plug from a dealer for £30. Its then a 5 minute job to pull the wiring through, reseat new grommet and plug in. The leads are even cheaper off ebay.... You need a white plug type. Regards, Steve

They say 59 litres usable fuel.....

    1.8 mpg

I have done over 400 miles on a tank (just). Last week I covered 377.7 miles on a full tank. I used 56.7 litres to refill (brim) the tank, so this equates to 30.2MPG. I have fitted a low fuel light and so I wait for it to light and then cover another 20 miles or so befre refuelling...

    Yes Tyres again......

215/75 R15's fit with plenty of space between the shock absorber etc. I would say yes as it will be only 5mm wider each side. Regards, Steve

    215/70/16 or 225/70/16?

Two pics of my vehicle running 215/75 R15's. One showing the tread pattern (11mm when new) and the other showing the slight lift that I have gained with the bigger size and deep tread pattern. Regards, Steve

    freelander ird blanking plate

Its far simpler just to remove the two propshafts and unbolt the VCU. Its a half hour job. I ran for 6 months in 2wd and just left the IRD output flange / cup spinning. I even got an MOT test conducted and received only an advisory for 'Propshaft missing' In the end I refitted everything as...

    battery advice

I removed my airbox and fitted a 110Ah battery. It makes no difference to the starting or running of the vehicle. It does allow me to leave my side lights on for many hours and still start the engine. I run an invertor and extra electrics whilst camping without any issues. When running my...

    215/70/16 or 225/70/16?

Colways are no longer produced in the UK.... however, they are being made abroad and can be purchased through eBay. (£155 per set of 4) I paid £99 for my set of 4 inc delivery (one off eBay ad). I have run a set on a Discovery 2 and they have covered 30,000 with some tread remaining - will...

    215/70/16 or 225/70/16?

I was originally going to go for 205/80 R16 in BFG AT fitment. I have settled on 215/75 15 to keep my original alloys and gone with Colway A/T. Slightly off topic, but might be useful. Regards, Steve

    bull bar fitting kit

Most mount using two brackets fitted using two of the bolts used for the engine undertray. They are usually a bracket at a right angle to the bull bar. They also secure under the number plate - you will see three plastic plugs. Leave the centre one in, remove the outside two, drill and use a...

    17's to 16's

Post 2000 MY had a different brake disc and pad setup. Also the rear hubs were modified. Any wheel from a post 2000 MY will be ok on your vehice. 16" wheels are sooooooo much cheaper than 17's. Regards, Steve
