Hi Bigeeeee, Have you got a manual or auto td5?

My TD5 is terrible and always hovers around the low 20's even if i drive like an old codger. Its a 2003 es auto. My thought is the autos are just way thirstier. Are the people that are getting good returns using manual boxes?

Black low pressure return seeping fuel on my td5 at the in tank pump, it had a new pump a while ago. Not seated properly or a seal missing? The other three seem tight and are not leaking yet the black moves a little. How does the male part seal into the female part (no funny answers please)?.

I would check the vacuum pump as my 300 did exactly the same - it still went fine but got louder and louder untill I got scared. It will be a broken spring in it or just plain knackered. Cheap to fix though and my brakes worked better afterwards.

Hi all, After replacing the seal at the top of the tank pump do you need to replace the seals where the pipe unions clip into each other? Are there O rings in there to replace? Mine seem to weep over time and I was wondering if the seals may need renewing? Thanks

Don't forget there is lot of mechanical bit on LR transmissions and they do wear. get all the nipples well greased and always be prepared for the "slack" in the transmission to factor in especially when going from d - r.

I agree with Battenberg. I have both and my 300 has 2000000 miles and the engine is fine but the body is rotting off the chassis. Td5 has probs and are more expensive to fix but much nicer and is more refined. You could buy several 300's for the price of a tidy td5 though.

Check you have it in park! If it is try delaying how quick you try turning the key after you get in. I had the same prob and at first i did not have it in P, second time I beat the imobiliser. try waiting for all ingnition lights to go off befor turning the key.

Morrisons at Rodgerstone, Newport do a quality B30 at pump number 6. its a low percentage blend but a good place to sample the future. I am sure you will be happy. Just be sure you change your filters at 1000k and 2500k after that. Tidy!
