Spent weeks fitting a 200Tdi new 5 speed gearbox and new transfer unit, power steering etc.... Look at the size of my steering wheel 12" it reminds me of the good old days with the minis..

Hello I have a defender gearbox and I am fitting a 200tdi engine from a discovery 1 to go in. Is the pressure plate from the discovery the same as a defender pressure plate. This is all being fitted into my series 2a. Thanks for the help in advance Kevin

Ok i have counted the teeth 34 29 19 14 14 the bearings look both the same.

That's the problem it just had 50a 6889 stamped on it. This has been stamped over the original numbers.

Can anyone help me. My series 2a landy with a Defender gearbox needs a new layshaft and reverse idler gear. the problem is the gearbox only has 50A stamped on it. Does any have a list with the number of teeth on the lay shaft cross referenced with the part number so i can identify and order...

What you mean you can just replace the starter motor. .... I was planning to change the engine anyway just throught it would be a good time to do it.

My landy broke down at the weekend. Starter motor failed. So I have removed the wings and the seat box and the floor and the doors. I am going to fit my TDI engine and gearbox in. :)

It's not that I just have a disco axle and thought I may be able to them on my series.

Yes I think you may be right about the glow plugs. Remove one and see what it looks like. You could try disconnecting the relay to the plugs and see if she starts the same, if so it would point to them. How many miles has she done? Kev

You could have air in the high pressure lines. Do a search on google on how to bleed it. Very easy just takes a few mins to do.

Ouch.......I think they give you the landy as we'll.lol
