Another thought. Do i need to use any form of gasket sealant or does it just go on dry.

I am going to play it by ear and see what it looks like when i strip it down.Its not been overheated though so might be lucky.

Pretty sure its the head gasket i can feel it blowing out the back and there is diesel on the bulkhead.No other symptoms though ie water in oil or elevated water pressure or temp so far.

Number of jacks depends on model.On a 300 i belive the engine tilts forward on it mounts so you need to support this. You could block it but a jack would allow you to adjust it .On a 200 it just sits there. bottle and trolley jack worked for me on the gear box.As for alignment tool a long socket...

Sorted.Just for info a 300 cable fits a 200 perfectly

The outer sheath of my throttle cable has parted company with the bulkhead grommet though the actual cable is ok.Any ideas of a quick fix till i can get hold of a new assembly as it is making the throttle very stiff to use.

Can you determine if it is the battery end that is at fault or futher up ie towards bulk head

can you hear the relay actuating.Have you checked the earths

could be oil getting on it and clearing after being used a bit

I had to get a second hand window when the bar went dont think it very easy to remove leaving the window in one piece.

I did mine last week parked on road outside the house .Just a trolley jack and bottle jack and a strong mate.Hardest bit is getting at housing bolts to engine.

Well i cannot find the detent you mention at all.Also has anyone by chance got a pic of the linkage in situ lurking away they can post so i can see how it should be connected.
