I've read some posts about this before. From memory, there is a ball at the base of the gear stick that siezes up. The remedy is to dribble some oil down the gear stick so that it lubes the ball at the base. It would be worth searching for this as it definitely crops up alot. Cheers Andy

You can get 2nd hand engines on ebay for about a grand. Delivery to ROI wouldn't be too bad, if it's £65 - £85 to N. Ireland. Swapping a TD5 engine isn't a big deal, from what I've read. Some people take em out to do the clutch. Maybe someone else could advise on the engine cost swap...

I think he mean's 4K euro which is about £3200. Still a fortune though. My TD5 was £3995 for the whole car 7 months ago.

One of my rear calipers is leaking. I see there is a seal kit available. I have looked around on the web and cannot see any fitting instructions for these. Maybe its's better just to replace the whole caliper on this critical part? Can anyone advise me on this? Cheers Andy

Do you have AC? If so the external drains could be blocked and the AC will be draining into the car. All the carpets will be wet if that is happening. I've mine out to dry at the minute. They were soaking wet. Cheers Andy

The bias plate at the top of your gearbox has snapped. It's a really common issue. The bias springs that keep the gear lever between 3rd and 4th have nothing to work against so the lever springs over to 1st and 2nd. The part is about a fiver and fitting is an easy but fiddly job. Cheers Andy

Mines the same set up as yours. I adjusted mine using the drum adjuster, until the drum locked then backed off a little. I now have about 4 clicks to fully on. From memory I think I looked at an adjuster for the cable from underneath. It was too hard to get at so gave the drum adjustment a go...

That overfill sounds pretty bad. I would be careful there. Too much oil can burst seals etc due to too much pressure. Take it back to the garage and get them to fix it. It could be that they didn't bother to fit a new filter and put in the correct amount giving an overfill. Not sure if that...
