Retired - Living the dream
For the past few weeks my handbrake doesn't hold on a steep hill - had problems launching my boat on the slip as the vehicle rolls back with the handbrake on fully,(car left running so can't put in gear) have tried to adjust the drum per the manual but no change.
I tried to adjust the cable per the RAVE cd which describes:
Remove the trim around the handbrake lever at the window switches and turn the nut anti-clockwise to tighten the cable.
I''ve had a look but mine doesn't seem to have an adjuster within the car, all I can see is the cable and a grommet where the cable leaves the inside.
Anyone adjusted the cable and can give any pointers.
regards

Mines the same set up as yours. I adjusted mine using the drum adjuster, until the drum locked then backed off a little. I now have about 4 clicks to fully on.

From memory I think I looked at an adjuster for the cable from underneath. It was too hard to get at so gave the drum adjustment a go and it worked a treat.

I think that Haynes shows both type of cable adjusters.

If you seem to have the right amount (or at least a reasonable amount) of travel at the handbrake it might be worth checking if the oil seal in the transfer box is leaking. This will let oil run onto the brake shoes preventing them working properly.

Easy fix, do a search on here as someone posted a good write up on the procedure.
