    4 Standard defender wheels?

I have 5 standard steel wheels with some old tyres on (they are starting to perish and two have very little tread). They function fine, but there is a bit of rust starting to poke through the cream colour. I reckon they would be fine with a good clean, sanding and paint. They are left over from...

    Diff lock problems!

If you crawl under the transfer thingy, you can get someone to wiggle the diff lock stick and you can see things moving. Also, to get to the low ratio linkage things, I took the middle seat out and opened up the panel below which a gave a nice clear view, but I think the diff lock rod is further...

I took out that panel and its exactly where I needed to be, as its not the rod thats broken. Its the clevis thing that has sheared off around the rod. At least it is easy to access if I ever do need to change to low ratio before the parts arrive :P

in need of a good anti theft idea please.

My new 110 has been fitted with an alarm and immobiliser. Its pretty good at stopping the car from being driven off.... even by the owner with the key fob. ####ing annoying thing. I'd just use a battery isolator like what is on my 90. It looks as though immobiliser/alarm systems are a bitch to...

Yeah that makes sense, the car hadn't had a proper run in a few months. I'm hoping its easily accessible through the gearbox tunnel and middle seat xD Time will tell.

Well I picked up a 300tdi today! A very nice 110 with a lot of work put into it recently. Only hiccup was the high-low trasnfer rod thing snapped on the test drive! The seller and I played about and got nowhere after an hour. Mecahnics came and put it into high ratio within 5 minutes. I swear...

    Defender 300tdi wanted

I'm pretty sure you could get a very tidy 300tdi for less than £5k, then spend any extra money you have on making it really nice to what you want.

I'm after a big one that I can make into a bit of a camper vehicle. And by camper I mean a sleeping bag in the back. I love the 2.5 petrol, its so solid but I have that niggling feeling that I won't keep it around for too much longer and don't want to be spending too much money on it. Its...

Yepp thats me! Thanks :D that would be a massive help. Although I'm thinking of selling my Landy for a more reasonable car. And by reasonable, I mean a 110 with a TDI engine

Heh yeah, I have one sitting next to me. I'm just too scared to try and unbolt the old one. Its quite nice looking forward to spending time on it! No regrets ;)

Things break faster than I can fix them. Got new wheels, waxoyled, changed engine oil, greased prop shaft, had the dash off to sort electrics a few times, sorted the carb... (the list goes on) But... exhaust has holes, everywhere including under the carb which is blowing into the air filter...

You can hook up a Raspberry Pi to the electronics fairly easily, and then you could write up some code to read and record data for when (or if) she fails

300tdi 90 not lifted what wheels can I squeeze under

I know this isn't a great help, but I've just put some 235/85r16s on my old 90 with no problems. I don't know if you can go much bigger without any rubbing

    Whos booked a Waxoyl then?

Booking?!?! Pfft its easier to do it yourself! That is what I said to myself a few weeks ago and here I am now, the rain is heavy and consistant, and I wished I booked it in to be done properly :crutch:

    90 2.5 petrol in a bad mood

I missed all the light to get actual pictures, but yesterday I checked for oil and there was some. I took your advice and put some more oil in anyway. Lo and behold it is now working a treat *touch wood* Thank you so much for the help, I always thought it would be something simple!

    90 2.5 petrol in a bad mood

Something in the carb is sticking, the fuel valve thingy, I don't know the proper terminology, so a wiggle sorted it out for a bit. It was working alright but its gone back to being **** again. I'll give it another go in the morning before the last resort.... borrowing a Renault Clio :puke: And...
