We sold our TD5 90 CSW to buy the 110 CSW for my business.

The missus drove the 90 mostly and now she says she wants another, which is great, l suggested a 300 tdi.

Trouble is most seem well used, and her 90 was a minter (we got £15k for it)

There's a company on fleabay called "North West Defenders" who say they will "build a Defender 300tdi to your choice of colour etc for £10,000"

Has anybody had experience of these people and are they any good? I was thinking that might be an option.

you could buy a donor vehicle and a new chassis and get some one to refurb engine, transmission, axles etc and build it your self for a lot less than £10k

I'm pretty sure you could get a very tidy 300tdi for less than £5k, then spend any extra money you have on making it really nice to what you want.

I suppose it depends what you get for the £10k.
Is their a standard spec they build to?
If all they're doing is sourcing a vehicle, giving it the once over and doing the bits that need doing, then just paint.
Then to me it seams overpriced.

To give you an idea my 90, albeit a 200tdi and not 300tdi cost me about £6500 to rebuild including a galvanized chassis, went through all the axles etc..
A few newer panels as the old ones where past their best. (Td5 bulkhead, wings, seatbox and tdci bonnet) and then paint, albeit myself as everything else on the build has been.

So they must be making a fair profit out of everyone, don't get me wrong labour soon adds up, but Christ I'd be able to build one on a new chassis easily for that money.

Just give Aaron the 10k, and he'll build her something special (may have a lorry engine in it though)

And then any left over he can use to finish his, cus im waiting impatiently for his thread to continue!

Mine has come to about £9k all in so far inc the purchase. No labour though. Though that includes roof rack, carrier, ladder etc.

Maybe next year  Will be a year in March so will be slightly ****ed if it isn't done by then, but I'm not getting my hopes up because money may still be a problem :(
