    2" Spring lift Freelander

It's better than no 2"! Looks good! I'm getting mine sorted next week - as you say it certainly won't make a huge difference but after some recent outings I'm taking every extra mm under the car I can get!

    The 2wd fuel economy experiment!

Thanks very much for the advice. I'll give the test a go and will try and pick up a Haynes for if (when!) things go pop in the future!

    The 2wd fuel economy experiment!

Fitted the rear prop up back yesterday by the mechanic who removed it after last winter. He assures me it was only removed to save fuel and seemed a nice genuine guy. Def something up however - there's a clunk when I change gear (told that's just the rear diff mount bush), there's a...

Freelander 1 What mileage is your Freelander 1 on?

Just picked ours up from a family who'd just been using it around town since 2002. 1999, Full LR service history, 91k now. Feels tight with no current problems (CURRENTLY...!) and 11 months MOT. All of my cars over the past few years have been massive mileage diesels - 150-200k. Parts wear out...

    The 2wd fuel economy experiment!

Excellent - makes sense yeah! I'll report back once it's fitted up. Hopefully with all 4 wheels driving!

cant afford to run it anymore :(

Check the tyres for scrub. I nearly halved my MPG when my alignment and tracking was out. Was munching through front tyres every few weeks too!

    The 2wd fuel economy experiment!

It was removed by the previous owner, or at least by the specialist he used in Edinburgh. He allowed me to speak to the mechanic directly to confirm the car's history etc and I'm confident it was only removed to save fuel (just being used as their family car around town). I'd like to try green...

    I shouldn't have done it

I've just spent 5 months doing up a dodgy eBay buy to get it back to a reasonable standard to sell. It's been a total nightmare daily driver, and I reckon I've lost about 1.5k all in. If it's an unknown car, it could be hiding a world of other issues. My advice would be to get it sold as spares...

    Newbie - Peebles, Borders

Hi all, Got our first Landy a couple of days back (just a Freelander but have to start somewhere...!) so have joined up to get some maintenance tips and to meet some local drivers. The car's feeling great already - a total dream up on our farm but as I've got no 4x4 experience at all I'll be...

Will there be any more of these events coming up? I'm near here and would like to have a pop!

    The 2wd fuel economy experiment!

I am yet to refit the propshaft that came supplied with my 2L diesel that has been running in FWD over the summer. Should I be careful when refitting it to check anything else or just bosh it on and see if it feels ok? Looks like a simple mechanical fit at either end plus the supports in the...
