have a look at the turbo solenoid actuator ? make sure the pipework is not leaking , ie you are getting full vacuum to the solenoid, also make sure the linkage is not seized

just take the alternator off why p*iss about ?, so much easier on a bench

2nd that fuel pump issue

difficult to say exactly what the problem would be but certainly be looking at the fuel pump, mine gave me problems for quite a while, wouldnt rev past 3000, and very sluggish,, when it finally gave up, it failed to start, but a little tap got it going again, also similar symptom is the turbo...

yes refit the original, maf, if its not compatible again the engine wont start , i think it should run with it disconnected, i have posted video s on youtube under , td4 injector testing , and td4 injector testing -2 if you carry out this test you will be 100% sure the injectors are firing...

Irishrover i have posted some photos on a new thread under td4 injector testing, i wasnt able to post a video hope it helps, another thought if your cam sensor is defective or the wiring your engine wont start have you tried easy start ?

if you removed the air box (plenum chamber) you would have disconnected the map sensor (mass air pressure), its located at the lhs as your looking at the engine

the td4 is self priming so no need to crack the fuel lines, you mention the maf, but not the map sensor, have you reconnected it ? do you have any engine management lights on ?

have you checked the vacuum hoses ?, sounds like the turbo vanes not adjusting correctly possible loss of vacuum to solenoid valve. did you blank off the egr valve vacuum hose ?

removing the pully bolt is not easy, you will need some tool to lock up the shaft, what galaxy are you in ?
