Air intake System (Has this alreay been done)

as has already been said the air box can be quite oily, check your oil consumption first, replacing a turbo can be costly, modifying the air pipe work is most probably a waste of time its a freelander not a racing car, fitting a tuning box or increasing / adjusting the turbo output will...

    TD4 Aux Belt Won't Fit

binary, like i said you most probably fooked up in your first attempt to get the belt on and broke the tensioner, anyways , you will have to remove it , , when refitting i found it easier to restrain the spanner on the tensioner bolt with a tie down strap, then you can release it...

    TD4 Aux Belt Won't Fit

the tensioner is not adjustable, you have fooked up with the belt routing, its easily to do so dont take it to heart, you need to take the tension off the tensioner with a spanner its spring loaded and reroute the belt correctly, it really is not rocket science:o

    Brake conundrum

i think its irrelevant which way the spring is fitted, it can only adjust once there is sufficient movement (ie lining wear ) and it then can move the ratchet. you will most probably not have the same problem again for a few months,

    TD4 on vegetable oil

been using veg oil for many years now, i use 10/15 ltrs /tank fill up, and you are allowed to use 2500lts /year i think, currently get it at 90p/ltr, so a little saving also engine runs very smooth and a lovely chip shop smell, just dont over do it or you may have starting problems when its cold

    Brake conundrum

mike the top pic is incorrect, . go with the bottom pic, there is a hole where the spring locates, not as in the top pic go sit in the corner :D

    2004 TD4 - intake manifold ports leaking?

Andy welcome to landy zone, looks like you will have this sorted the problem with the work you have undertaken, good pics showing the problem, possibly the airbox was not tightened correctly ? as the rubber seals are reusable for many times , , your engine shoul be clean, and if its kept clean...

    Brake conundrum

mike, i have had this problem, first off brakes would stick on when handbrake applied over night, usually associated with wet weather or going through deep puddles, i did the same as you , stripped down, lubed and made sure all was free to move, and this seemed to work for a while, then just as...

    Help! Td4 no brakes!

probably the inner seals of the master cylinder are passing/perrished, so no outward leaks will be evident, replace the m/c and all should be well, brake systems such as abs are fail safe, if they fail you just dont get anti lock brakes, if the servo fails you just need to apply more effort...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

Well done bigtwig, you are a credit to this forum so glad you found the fault, such a tricky little fault to find too, and now we know 40psi is lp pressure , on my next service i will do a fuel flow test to get some some idea for expected flow rates,(unless anyone already has this info ?) as...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

hi bigtwig i see you have had a busy weekend,i have been away from pc, so no able to contribute, your lp pressure sensor is slightly different to mine, as mine is incorporated into the fuel filter housing mounted on the inner wing, when i disconnected mine i wasn't able to even start the...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

point 1, you need to establish the lp pump is delivering fuel,to the hp pump, by putting your own 12v supply to it you have bypassed the cars circuits , can you be certain it is actuallly functioning correctly, blown fuse / relay ?. 2, injector leakoff, however unlikely, could be enough to...

TD4 Fuel Problem MIL light comes on

fuel pressure problem ? ,as im sure you are on the right track 1, have you tried a fuel flow test at the filter outlet or before the hp pump 2, injector leak off test 3, as you have been getting regulator faults, the regulator is attached to the hp pump, not sure how you can test this, most...

    Do you always replace nuts?

in the perfect world or if you dont understand what you are doing , do as the manual tells you , from a personal point i have been in engineering over 40 years working on all types of machinery , the worst thing you can do is over tighten nuts and bolts, you need to understand the correct...

    Repair Costs

if its just a weep ,i certainly wouldn't bother , as others have said keep a check on oil levels, the worst that could happen is your clutch becomes contaminated with oil and it starts to slip, then you have no choice
