Ran it on bio diesel for a while, worked OK but not as much power. Cleaned the engine out quite well though!
If you're going to run pure veg oil, you'll need to alter the low pressure pump as it will be too thick ( reduce number of vanes). Or mix it with normal diesel to thin it out.
Other option is to fit another tank and heat it to thin it out. All depends on you.
If you have a constant supply it' s worth doing. If not you won't save that much, as you are going to pay your fuel duty aren't you;)

I have had dealings with a couple of cars with veg oil......

Skoda octavia 1.9sdi was as happy as a pig in a tratter on it.

Panda 1.0 turbo diesel got gummed up and cost a fortune replacing fuel pump and other bits.....

Ya pays ya money and takes ya choice........ Personally I wouldn't but that is my humble opinion.

DO NOT EVER RUN A COMMON RAIL TYPE ENGINE ON VEG OIL. - that includes the TD4.

Its way too thick for the pump and injectors, and the fuel systems are too fragile and sensitive to fuel quality to risk it.

Personally, I would avoid bio diesel too, as the quality can vary enormously.

been using veg oil for many years now, i use 10/15 ltrs /tank fill up, and you are allowed to use 2500lts /year i think, currently get it at 90p/ltr, so a little saving also engine runs very smooth and a lovely chip shop smell, just dont over do it or you may have starting problems when its cold

This topic has been well covered in the Rangie section. From what I recall, using Veg oil can cause havoc with fuel pump seals etc.
