Where should the temp gauge sit on a 200tdi?

Mine sits about 1/3 of the way up the gauge, couples of others I know do as well as well as one which tends to sit at about halfway.

is to much waxoyl a bad thing

Not at all I'd say, better to have a good covering then one that's too thin that'll scratch off or chip easily.

    Rear hub seals

Right thanks James - good thing I bought a spare.

    Rear hub seals

OK, done the seals and just tried to reassemble but the outer oil seal (FRC8222) with the spring side facing IN towards the bearings does not leave enough room for the lip on the inside of the drive flange to sit inside the hub. Should it go the other way around with the spring facing outwards?

    Drivetrain knock

Can be lots of things - half shaft/drive flanges worn, diff, prop UJs, rear A-frame ball joint and mainshaft wear are most common. Quite loud coming from the back I'd say likely to be A-frame ball joint or diff, assuming the person who looked at it was correct about the UJs being OK. Could be...

It's probably been plated over because they are famous for leaking :p

    Rear hub seals

Gotta get in the garage and fit new hub seals to the O/S rear hub tomorrow as they've been leaking for a fair while but it's started getting pretty bad now. Just wanted to try and get a solid answer as to the correct way to fit each seal as various guides/other forum posts seem to conflict each...

    New Ashcroft LT77

£300 labour. Yes I did look into all the options including self-fitting, but I needed to get it done it was the easiest option for me at the moment. Would like to be able to do it fairly easily one day though.

    Fuel tank leak

Cheers guys, I reckon I'll be needing a new tank...however the leak seems to have lessened a lot now the tank has gotten down to about half full on the gauge. Can't find the exact cause of the leak, I would say the rear seam looks suspicious but it also looks like I shouldn't go poking and...

    Fuel tank leak

Had a bit more of a look today - filler hoses look fine, the rear seat bolt looks like it's very close to or just touching the tank but there's no indication of diesel running down from there. Seems like it could be the rear seam as all the rear of the tank (down towards the drain plug) is wet...

    Fuel tank leak

Far from it :p I usually feather it and let it build momentum :D Will have further look around it tomorrow and see if I can spot any point of origin. Thanks for your help. Anyone got any views on trying to source a second-hand tank from the local Landy breakers if this one does turn out to...

    Fuel tank leak

Sorry, forgot that one. Diesel. Have noticed the gauge seems to be emptying faster then normal, fast even for a Landy!

    Fuel tank leak

Another new problem, the side-mounted tank on the 90 has sprung a leak. It's dripping from the lowest point on the guard underneath but there's a lot of staining elsewhere the the whole rear of the tank is wet, checked the top of it under drivers seat and although the area around the sender unit...

    New Ashcroft LT77

It is a lot of money but I don't feel it's that bad at all for what you get. I certainly couldn't find anywhere else that would rebuild my own box with a new clutch for less.

    New Ashcroft LT77

Their fitting service for the box, clutch kit + fork, input gear and oil, inc VAT is £1034, however mine was a bit less then that because they subtracted the price for the input gear since I bought one previously and took it along with me.

    New Ashcroft LT77

Got my new Ashcroft LT77 fitted on Thursday, turned up an hour early as I didn't think the old mainshaft would make it there but it did! Once the fitting garage (Dale's) had opened up I went in for a chat, very nice bloke. Said I'd bought a new gaiter with me and I already had the new input gear...
