If it only happens when towing are you sure the caravans brakes are not sticking on. That is one of the pipes you describe and the most common one to fail. I have tape round mine though holding a metal strip to prevent the pipe wearing through.

Bonnet open should illuminate the door open light aswell.

How many miles has it done before the origonal gave up? how many more do you expect to do? then decide if you need to pay for silicon. No other advantage.

I fitted the Climair a while back, driver side cable started to crunch then snapped shortly afterwards, but only because the cable was rusty and would have gone soon anyway. Easy fit for new cable and would not be without the deflectors now, well worth the hastle of the cable.
