Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

That makes sense, I'll buy the blanking kit from eBay and then if the bolts come out I can remove it, if not I'll just butcher the new pipe and replace the two joints!! Part of me wants to see if it makes any difference anyway.

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

I think my Defender is throwing a wobbly because I haven't used it much recently. I noticed over the weekend that the two rubber hoses which connect the pipe between the intercooler and the inlet manifold on my '96 300tdi are looking quite sorry for themselves. Have looked around online and I...

    New tyres

Agree with Al203, decide on the tyres I fancy which has normally taken me about 6 months of research to decide what I want. Then google for a price and check around a few other places, Land Rover specialists or 4x4 tyre suppliers for example. Then phone a few local tyre supplier with a good...

    Britpart LED headlights

lol, it looks as though your Defender is being driven towards something frightening and feels petrified, headlights bulging o_O How have you frightened it?

300 tdi hard top tax class and body type changes

So are you saying you didn't check the chassis number matched the V5 when purchasing? Or the chassis hasn't been stamped? If the chassis isn't stamped did the seller provide the original chassis leg with the chassis number stamped on it? The chassis number can be used to discover what the...

    One shot swivel grease

Just don't stick your fingers in the hole when full lock is applied just in case someone moves the steering wheel ;)

    Got pulled over this evening...

Yeah I'm aware I have the right to proceed to the nearest place I feel safe to stop, but thought you only had to acknowledge that you have seen them not actually talk to them????? Not really anywhere safe to pull over in the middle of nowhere though, would have had to drive another 15 miles or...

    Got pulled over this evening...

Never been stopped in Dorset/Somerset, however occasionally get them sit behind me for a bit and they do pay extra attention to old 4x4s vehicles, especially Land Rovers. Don't have an issue with it although I have found it a bit intimidating when you're in the middle of nowhere on a quiet road...

I Wanted One, I Bought One, I Don't Know Why, is This Normal?

Not a great deal has happened in the last few months, been busy with other bits and pieces, and it's being used daily so I can't do anything too involved. Carried out another full service a while ago using OEM filters along with Halfords 10w40 oil, Smiths & Allen EP90, and MTF94 in place of...

2 Button Key Fob Battery Replacement

Thanks for the reassurance gents, went out and changed it no fuss whatsoever. Just my usual panic when splitting a car fob or remote that it won't work when it's clipped back together again. The metal bit that holds the battery is only held by 1 of the 3 solder points, so will take it into work...

2 Button Key Fob Battery Replacement

Afternoon all, have had the Land Rover 14 months now and never replaced the batteries in either of the key fobs. Think it may be time to replace one of them at least but the owners manual in the vehicle doesn't mention anything about the alarm and bits. The owners manual I've downloaded which...

    Diesel additives

My 300tdi is loads quieter after using Millers Ecomax for the last 8 months or so. Even my dad who's fairly hard of hearing tells me it sounds a lot quieter.

Alarm going off at 4am...... diagnostics?

Mines a '96 300Tdi CSW and after a long cool spell on a hot day some flies appeared to set mine off once. Not sure how active flies would be at 4am though? Maybe a spider or something could have crawled near/over it? My alarm goes off if I hit one of the rear sliding windows just harder than...

Seat removal / filling holes question.

I just use IPA and wipe over the surface until the rag stays clean. Pretty new to Land Rovers myself too, but have a tin of special metal primer, some hammerite, and touch up paint the same colour as my Defender for external surfaces. A dust mask would be a wise investment, corroded aluminium is...

Seat removal / filling holes question.

Personally if it isn't going to be seen I'd wire brush any corrosion off the aluminium, degrease, prime, and then seal with a top coat. Would just use a dome headed screw type fastener a couple of washers and a nyloc nut on the other side with a good dosage of sealant on everything. Then prime...

Disklok or Adrenaline 4x4 pedal lock?

I'd go steering lock if I had to choose between the 2 as it's immediately visible from a distance, whereas the thieves would already be nosing around to notice the pedal lock. Both would be the best option though.

    SNORKEL BRACKET

I bought mine looking like this: Then bought a bit of 1/8" 90 degree aluminium angle from eBay and battered it with a hammer as it didn't sit well. Drilled a few holes, primed it, painted it black and ended up with this: Could you not remove the bracket, rub it down and repaint it?

    Front grill dilemma?

Very nice!! Currently looks a bit pinky purple, but I think that will get toned down a bit when it's all put back together with the darker rubbers and bumpers etc. Will definitely stand out a bit in a crowd :)

Tyre load / speed rating for a 110 csw?

The downloaded user manual I have quotes the max rear axle weight is 1750kg for a 110 CSW, on page 164 for reference. So would think having tyres that can cope with 1250kg each side exceeds the vehicles maximum legal weight. That's using logic though, so whether that's right or not in the eyes...
