    New Project Arrives

Lovely progress looking good. How long will the engine look that clean though? Enjoying it?

Problems fitting Exmoor trim seat re-trim kit...

Probably easier when it's warm as the material will be softer and slightly stretchier?? Just an idea.

Well that bodge worked nicely ...

Is the hose fuel resistant or is there a risk of the bicycle pump hose deteriorating and potentially contaminating or blocking something? Glad you managed to get home, not sure I'd have anything if that happened to me, this time of year it'd be a nice long wait for the AA whilst freezing to death.

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

I didn't think it would make any odds either, unless I accidentally made a mistake when calculating the mpg or something. I'll be filling it up one night this week so will recalculate and see how many mpg it's done to this tank. It is going to be serviced soon anyway so that may be reducing the...

    defender tail light not working

Ace, didn't realise the bulbs were dual filament until I asked one of the sparkies at work. Never really had a vehicle as temperamental as the Defender. I'll pick up a bulb on the way back from work. Could be some water in there after yesterday's adventures helping out a few people near a...

    defender tail light not working

Bit of a thread revival. Was told this morning that both rear lights are working, however my ns brake light isn't coming on when the os does. Guessing this must be a wire issue? Not had chance to look at anything yet but guess firstly take the rear light out and look for chafed wires or dodgy...

Clutch, clutches and decisions, which clutch lasts, 300tdi 110 with 130 friction plate

Here's a thread I've got in my "watched threads" for when the time comes that I need to change my clutch! :) It's got a few post from a certain jamesmartin https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/new-clutch-and-what-else.208359/

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

Yeah, brim to brim, I'm sad git like that I always remember the figures and calculate them. I did think the same about someone possibly half inching some fuel but can't see any damage to the lock or cap. Also wondered if the nozzle picked up a bubble or something and didn't fill the tank 100%...

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

So been driving it for the last week and have just put some fuel in it. Alarmed at how quickly the fuel went down, about 1/2 tank to 153 miles, worked out at 15mpg. Before this I'd quite often get about 26-29mpg during normal use! Could it be that the egr valve has been blanked off and not...

Sceptical about fitting snorkel -Defender 200tdi

The rubber duck drain thing should be water tight if it's in good condition. It's designed to suck closed when air is being sucked into the engine and can be squeezed open to drain water out if any does find it's way in when the engine's off. These can be replaced or you could blank it off if...

    New Project Arrives

Does it get the Foxyred seal of approval for quality? I'll be watching this thread very closely over the next few months;).Seriously contemplating doing mine next year as will have space and money to do it, just unsure on time!

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

Thanks for the offer, I'll get rid of it at some point just when I can comfortably do without it for a while if the proverbial decides to hit the fan.

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

Afraid to say after all of the talk I have ended up putting the blanking plate between the EGR valve and the inlet pipe. I'll look into removing it when I can afford to snap stuff off and not worry about having an unusable tratter. Will soon have a garage to work out of the elements too. Can't...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

Haha, yeah I know, it's my happy place in my tratter, no worries about it being messy or dirty, just drive it and if it's raining wear a rain coat inside. I have my car which is normally pretty clean and goes fairly well. Then I have my 'fender which I can potter around in not worrying about if...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

I was looking for an O ring a few months ago, got annoyed as couldn't find a part no' so just bought a Bearmach cyclone complete with O ring, so maybe that's cracked. It was sealed with a clear looking silicon when I removed it. The breather's only started leaking since it was last serviced...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

That's a relief then, shouldn't be head gasket. Being a bit of a noob I just took it the bolts would have been the correct torque. Set the wrench to 8Nm just to see and probably got just over 1/2 a turn on all bolts. Will have a check the next time I drive it and see what it looks like, if...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

Sounds like a plan, it's without doubt the easiest thing to change 1st. I see there's a bearmach kit on ebay with the bolt seals and stuff. Or is it worth spending £16 on a genuine LR item? My torque wrench starts at 8Nm so I'll give that a go, and tighten the bolts evenly/gradually. Will...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

Could the oil get down without leaving a trail from the rocker cover? I really couldn't see any signs of it coming from the rocker cover? I was looking at rocker cover gaskets the other day actually and struggled to find the widget part number. Always go for OEM if the job is more than just a...

300Tdi Oil Between Rocker Cover & Inlet Manifold

Noticed today that there is some oil running down the exhaust manifold side of my 300Tdi, so whipped the cover off the top as it was coming from in between the inlet manifold and rocker cover. Uncovered this, and didn't get a picture but the foam on the underside of the sound insulation is wet...

Keep the EGR Valve, Remove It, Or Blank It Off

:)I will if it looks overly dirty, bit worried all the studs will come out of the block or something stupid. Probably end up with a driveway full of engine parts and not a clue how it goes back together if I'm not careful though. If the EGR valve comes off it'll go into my box of bits along with...
