I am SUCH an idiot! It turns out the bolt I was trying to undo wasn't actually for the air filter covering, it was for the MAF sensor. I feel so foolish , but I have now got the K&N filter fitted. Also fitted a new leather gear gaiter, now I'm in less of a mood.

It turns out in addition to it being a security Torx bolt, and not an Allen bolt...it is not a six pointed star Torx, but somehow a FIVE pointed star Torx. Cheers, whoever did this. Ordered a set of bits from Amazon, and weirdly enough, the very first review of the product was by a guy trying...

Yes, I noticed and meant to get some when I went to Halfords, but forgot as I was a bit cross because of the Torx bolt and lack of success in removing it.

Managed to get some jobs done today! I fitted the PCV modification part, a lovely EGR removal kit made by Bimmertune in Lithuania and a full set of DPH silicone hoses. Having not driven it much since getting it, I don't really have a benchmark to see how much difference the mods have made, but...

Freelander 1 Which wiring harness do I need for new stereo?

I'm going to be fitting a new double DIN stereo soon, and I can see which fascia plate I need to get to do this, but I really have very limited knowledge with it comes to anything electrical, and I'm rather dreading doing this job, but I'm up for giving it a go. However, I've seen a couple of...

The suggestion to just get new drums sounds reasonable. As was possibly suggested earlier, will there be any temperature issues with painting them with normal paint, or do I need high temp caliper paint? What do I do? Prime the new drums and just paint over that? How many coats?

I took my spare wheel off the carrier this morning, and it looks a bit grubby underneath there. I'm not very good at this sort of thing, but I'd like to paint it to smarten it up. 1. What black paint do you think I should use? 2. How do I prepare the area for painting? Do I need to sand it to...

I looked on the plate in the door pillar now I have some daylight. It is indeed 734 - Giverny Green.

Can someone tell me what the colour of my vehicle is called?!

Do I do something to make the FBH work, or does it just get warmer quicker on a cold day? Or something else? The vehicle has 100k on it.

Picked this up today - a lovely 2004 TD4 SE. I've been looking around for ages, and my patience has paid off. Got this for a good price - full service history, excellent condition, heated front and rear screens, heated seats, rear parking sensors etc. I originally wanted a silver or black...

Freelander 1 Where do I cable tie my vacuum pipe on my EGR blank?

One last thing....can you tell me where I utilise the orange rubber band? Would that only be on BMW vehicles? Do I need a gasket, or am I right in saying there is a rubber seal on the Freelander manifold that will suffice?

Freelander 1 Where do I cable tie my vacuum pipe on my EGR blank?

Right, thanks for all your help, I understand it now! I think I'm going to order the 'cream of the crop' one, as I'm sure the results would be the same on all the units...but the quality appears to look far superior on that one.

Freelander 1 Where do I cable tie my vacuum pipe on my EGR blank?

Is the smaller diameter tube the exhaust stub? Are you saying that the smaller tube, even though it is open at the end, it is NOT open where it joins into the larger diameter tube?

    Polybushing or?

Oh, I've been reading up on the VCU! I think I need to pick this thing up in a couple of hours and not rush into buying stuff until I've lived with it for awhile - I need to remember it's not my old Defender. I'm not one to cut corners, and I absolutely will get all five of the tyres I choose...

Freelander 1 Where do I cable tie my vacuum pipe on my EGR blank?

How come on the first three...the part that comes off the main tube, is just a plate, but on the 'cream of the crop' one...it is another tube?

Freelander 1 Where do I cable tie my vacuum pipe on my EGR blank?

Yep, you've lost me. ALL the vac pipes? I'm not 100% sure I'm able to identify one vac pipe if it bit me on the arse, let alone multiple ones. I don't have a clue where anything "Ts in."
