Bought an EGR blanking kit for a vehicle I'm picking up tomorrow, from a company on eBay called 'EGR Delete.' The part does not have a nipple to attach the vacuum pipe to once fitted, and I have to fit a little yellow bung and cable tie it....somewhere.

First of all, this is unnecessarily annoying me...it feels like a bodge?! What do I cable tie it to, and is there any chance the bung can fall out? Should I just send it back and order an Allisport kit...or is there nowt wrong with my current thing?

As long as the pipe is blocked, you can tie it up out the way. Or remove the pipe completely right from the vacuum accumulator. It's T'd into the vacuum circuit next to the accumulator. Simply remove the T piece and replace it with a straight link instead. All the associated EGR vacuum pipes can then be removed completely;)
 
Oh and only fit the EGR blanking kit that has the button to support and seal the exhaust link pipe. If it doesn't have the support button, don't use that kit. It's common for the flexible exhaust link to snap if it's not supported.
 
Yep, you've lost me. ALL the vac pipes? I'm not 100% sure I'm able to identify one vac pipe if it bit me on the arse, let alone multiple ones. I don't have a clue where anything "Ts in."
 
 
How come on the first three...the part that comes off the main tube, is just a plate, but on the 'cream of the crop' one...it is another tube?
 
Is the smaller diameter tube the exhaust stub? Are you saying that the smaller tube, even though it is open at the end, it is NOT open where it joins into the larger diameter tube?
 
Right, thanks for all your help, I understand it now!

I think I'm going to order the 'cream of the crop' one, as I'm sure the results would be the same on all the units...but the quality appears to look far superior on that one.
 
One last thing....can you tell me where I utilise the orange rubber band? Would that only be on BMW vehicles?

Do I need a gasket, or am I right in saying there is a rubber seal on the Freelander manifold that will suffice?

The rubber Orange O-ring is the seal that sits in the manifold which gives the seal between the EGR and the manifold, you can use the new one of leave the old one in, sometime they come out when the EGR is removed, it gets stuck to the gunk, couple of photo's below of how your manifold may look inside when you remove the EGR.

Two clogged up ones, 1 worse than the other and a nice clean one which as been decoked of the nasty gunk.
