    Lift or lockers

http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBNPZFNOK-4 This sums it up quite well. Having said that, unless you are going to get enough use out of the lockers to justify the cost, then the suspension may be the way to go, especially if you are pulling it apart anyway ;) You may also find that...

    90 to disco 300tdi and r380 convedsion

The hose attaches after the air filter so as not to fill the filter with oil vapour. Nice work by the way ;) Any chance of a couple of pictures of that canvas truck cab? I'm looking at fitting one to mine at the moment. :D

    Suspension refresh...help missing washers ?

Are those the Gwyn Lewis turrets? If so then the top of the shock should have another washer either side of the turret, seperating the bush and preventing the shock pin moving side to side in the turret. It will look slightly different to the ones you currently have, in that it has a lip that...

    Painting on galv?

What Tim said is bang on the money. Mordant solution (aka T-wash), brush on liberally, watch the galv change colour then hose off. Etch primer (I used Hammerite specials metals primer because it was on offer) Then a top coat of your choice :D

    i.o.w sites?

There is an LR company based called Island 4x4 based on the IoW, it may be worth asking them ;) http://www.island4x4.net/

    Powder coating

Powder coating is a barstool to get off, and will be expensive to get shot blasted. Wire wheels/flap wheels on a grinder just smear it around so your best bet would be to have a very large bonfire and throw the bull bar on, or flash over it with oxy acetylene Your choice after that as to...

    Winch bumper / intercooler problems

Have you looked at a dual core intercooler? They are the same height and width as the standard one, but twice as deep. Not sure if this depth is gained by extending it forwards or back but worth looking at.

    Water proofing fuel cap

There's no reason why you couldn't make something similar to your axle breathers. I agree though, it's a common problem on small boat engines when people forget to open the breather once they connect the tank.

Td5 tank on v8 can it be done? 90

No reason why you can't. Dad's 90 is a 3.9 v8 using a TD5 tank. You will need to buy the tank and fuel pump and find a way of patching over the current fuel filler then moving it to behind the rear wheel to suit the TD5 tank. The only problem we had was that the submersible pump is...

90 Chassis and pair of axles - they are getting scrapped otherwise!

Typical, I was down near Somerset with a trailer last week  I'm happy to hold onto them if you want to sort something out? Harry

Galvanised chassis where to go for one?

I'm really pleased with my Richards chassis- would definitely use them again.

90 Chassis and pair of axles - they are getting scrapped otherwise!

Up for grabs is: - 1989 90 chassis requiring 2 tub outriggers, some welding to the A-frame crossmember and a new rear cross member. There may be some more welding required, but I can poke and prod if there is any interest. - Front axle from above vehicle, it had a replacement diff...

    Replacement rear crossmember

I fitted a Britpart one (the Paddocks one) to mine a while ago, it was ****e and took so much time to adjust that it would have been better to spend more first time round. The weld quality was poor, the steel was the thickness of tin foil and it didn't fit the vehicle properly. Buy one from...

    Leicestershire clubs

I am yet to join them, but have met a few of the guys from Viking 4x4, they seem like a really nice bunch and hold quite a few events around Leicestershire. Viking 4x4 Club

    Adrenaline 4x4 stuff any good?

I've not used their suspension arms, but have had their reverse dislocation cones and pedal lock for 3 years now- really chuffed with them. As above, he's a really nice bloke too.

    TD5 Dash lights stopped

Thanks DJ Xan ;) Checked the fuses and they are all ok, both the horn and hazards/indicators work as they should. I had presumed all the sidelights were working still, but on closer inspection only the ones on the nearside are working. The front offside works on full beam but not dipped. I...

    TD5 Dash lights stopped

Thanks for the quick reply guys :D The headlights etc all work fine, it's purely the gauges that have stopped working, along with some of the lights on the little warning panel. Assuming it is the switch, where would I find that? - electrics are not my strong point  Further...

    TD5 Dash lights stopped

I've borrowed my dad's defender whilst I rebuild mine and the dash lights have stopped working. When I turn the lights on, none of the gauges light up, and the light that tells you the side lights are on has stopped also. Full beam and handbreak lights still work though. It's a J reg 90...

Whatt to do with military paint

My 90 had about 15 coats of brush-applied nato green with the texture of a ploughed field. I went to Screwfix and bought the cheapest DA orbital sander they had and a load of 40 grit disks, it took less than a day to sand the whole vehicle back to primer/bare metal.
