How much should it cost to strip a full wrap around bull bar (for Disco 1) and have it re-coated? Any recommendations for companies in the northern part of the north west or southern part of Cumbria?

You'd be better of wet spray painting. Powder coating as soon as it is chipped lets water behind and within a few months you have clumps of the stuff falling off!

If it was a race car I'd recommend powder but as it is a land rover I'd say paint.

Is the bull bar powder coated already ? If so expensive.

Powder coating is a barstool to get off, and will be expensive to get shot blasted.

Wire wheels/flap wheels on a grinder just smear it around so your best bet would be to have a very large bonfire and throw the bull bar on, or flash over it with oxy acetylene

Your choice after that as to whether you go with paint or powdercoat, I would agree with Matthew2riches and paint it.

Not if its dipped not to bad for price as powder coaters have chemicals but as said ,wet spraying is better and easyer to touch up .

I use the powder coaters all the time, they'll shot blast stuff first if it needs it. I'd imagine having a bar blasted then powder coated would be £50 ish

theres a few guys up on the north west coast area if not you could get it galved, KMW will tell you where to go for that, they may even do you a deal on it and let you slip it in with one of their orders for a small fee

From talking to local body shop, it needs an acid bath to strip the powder coat off and then painting/galvanising/whatever. He said they use a place in Preston, but no luck phoning them yet. I've started removing damaged areas with a knife and treated the rust. I'll probably just Hammerite the affected areas. Looks like anything else may cost to much at the moment.

probably looking at about £50 to galv it or £40 ish for powder coating, you can strip off the old coating with a grinder and knife though

Yep dipping is least expensive then give it a paint spray rather than hand brushed hammer right there is only two ways to remove powder coating fast dipping of metal shot

Won't get the rust out that caused the plastic coating to leave it's surface in the first place or get in Ll those Intricate places
