I used a 300tdi disco air filter housing and it uses the standard pipe too.

It's fine to use the standard metalastic bush in the panhard with polybushes on the radius arms. ;)

The prep is very easy, I did all of mine with a cheap DA orbital sander from Screwfix and some 80 & 240 grit pads. The paint shop may want you to sand it down finer, but thats not difficult. It takes a day or 2 if you want to do it well but would save you a lot of money. The whole respray cost...

If you want a new one the part no is STC4858. Mine cost about £20 including new pinion nut/bolt and seal.
