    Galvanised bulkhead...truth or myth?

If it's new galv then it needs to be painted in T-wash aka Mordant solution first, otherwise the paint won't adhere properly. Slap it all over, watch the glav go a funny black colour, then hose it off. Repeat this again, allow it to dry thoroughly then spray etch primer as per normal.

    30" tires with standard springs

Have you thought about -1 inch springs? It wouldn't mess about with your current gearing either. Or air suspension...although that may be a bit more difficult

New sills and sliders made today (pic heavy)

The grip tape stuff works well, we use it on sailing boats. It feels like a belt sander if you slip on bare skin though ;)

    Defender 90 Best seat covers?

Britpart. For once I can't fault something from them.:eek: Paid about £35 and had them for 5 years. They are almost worn through now, but still totally waterproof. They stand up well to pressure washers and washing machines too ;)

Land Rover for 17 year old

The NFU are very good, but will only insure under 25s if immediate family have a policy with them, are a member of the union or under an umbrella policy e.g. entire farm. At 17 I paid £300 for a 2.25 series 3 and £600 fully comp on a brand new 2.5l subaru. When At 18 they charged me £900 for a...

fitting a double bike rack to a trailer

What about a couple of these bolted to the top for the front forks, then a ratchet strap to hold the rear wheels down. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/saris-replacement-track-system-trap/rp-prod39590 A mate of mine had a similar thing welded to a tie bar that went across the back of...

    Painting rivets

I cut a small square of bicycle inner tube and pushed the shaft of the rivet through that before putting it into the gun. This was more to stop the gun bouncing across the new paint but it may prevent damage to painted rivets also.

90 ST Owner Photo Request & Measurements

I put the tilt on and guessed from there, although they aren't very even. Got to fit them to the new tub soon so will be a bit more careful this time The ones at the front may be 90 degrees out also. Instead of the horse shoe ones on the back, have you thought about fitting some small...

    Do you want/need a Riveter?

I sprayed the 90 with a Lidl jobby, they are great bits of kit for the money. Only problem is the size of the tank, but that can be increased if you get creative with a big calor gas can ;) Wish I'd bought an air riveter at the beginning of the rebuild!

    Headlight problem

Take an old light unit like an indicator etc, attach a piece of wire to each terminal and you have a homemade circuit tester. Test it on the battery every so often so you know it still works ;)

Internal Roll Cage - How to mount it?

Good plan, I was thinking something along those lines but can't find any guidlines in the blue book that would work. Theres loads of info on the net for external cages but very little for internal ones. :( No problem Neil, it won't be until christmas that I actually start to fit it as the...

Converting a 90 Truck Cab to a Soft Top with Tonneau anybody got any tips / prices

No problem, it may take me a few days to dig them out if thats ok though? Do you have any of the rope fixings on the sides/rear of the tub currently? Maybe best to give them a ring, they've always been helpful before. When you do fit it, could you post some pictures up? I'm seriously...

    bad weather garage

I found that no matter how tight it was, a tarp rubbed on the paint after a while, it looked like someone has gone over the edges of the wings and front of the bonnet with a brillo pad.

Internal Roll Cage - How to mount it?

It's a soft top so I don't need to protect a metal roof from trees. I don't want to fit a full external because it uses a lot more tube (more weight/increased CoG) to meet MSA specs and still loses the same amount of space in the rear due to the requirement for diagonals. Also the internal...

Internal Roll Cage - How to mount it?

I put this on another forum the other day but unfortunately didn't have much success. Now that the rebuild is almost done, I've got a 6 point internal roll cage that I would like to fit to the 90. The mounts for the main hoop and diagonals aren't an issue but I can't figure out how to mount...

Converting a 90 Truck Cab to a Soft Top with Tonneau anybody got any tips / prices

I was looking into this a little while ago, if you are using an ex-mod style roll bar then they don't list a tilt-frame kit, you will have to buy it in bits instead. I have a list of the part numbers somewhere if you would like? I've fitted an Exmoor Trim hood to a friend's land rover and it...

has anyone used one on there conversion

Sorry I misunderstood what you meant. When we fitted my 300 originally, we cut the 2.5 td mounts off, then welded 300 versions in.
