Rear windows is an easy fix, it will be a dry joint on the electric window control board - located in the glove box. Try the technical section of discoweb.org -- for the fix. Takes about 30 mins from start to finish if you have your soldering iron handy. Rear sunroof is probably a sticky...

Had the same thing on my dad's Passat many years ago, was the rear shocks - when you hit a bump at speed it was scary, like you were going to loose the back end, but it didn't shudder/wobble all the time, only when hitting a bump. Matt

Usual Tdi performance enhancers on high milers are to clean out the intercooler and the replace the intercooler hoses as the original ones can collapse. Of course, it all depends on if you did any more damage when the head was knackered. Matt

If you want perfect handling...buy a Ferrari :-) If you want to improve the handling of your Disco..a poly-bush kit will help, but that assumes everything else is in working order. You don't say why you fear loosing control - what are the symptoms? Why not get it into a Land Rover specialist...

If you're getting bubbles (or were) at the filter then I'd go with the lift pump diagnosis as well. Matt
