    scrapping a disco myself

just send off the change of owner bit with the details of the new owner that were given to you by the bloke who turned up out the blue and persuaded you to sell it to him for cash. he gave you cash theres no requirement for you to ask for any confirmation of address more than getting him to...

    chasis corrosion

my disco one needs a lot of welding on the floor... you got to realisticly work out what its going to cost to repair.... including the value of yer own time, what facilities youve got to do the work, add on the scrap value and look round to see what you can buy at that figure. its winter, i ve...

Whats the most you have towed?

most barn fires aint hay getting wet ... its hay that aint been dried proper in the first place , the remaining sap in the stems decomposes and its that which causes the heat for self combustion. tis an art to get it right good hay should heat a wee bit ... if its too dry the leaf gets brittle...

    no spark for me

ive never played with a v8 but id expect the dizzy body to be rock solid...they get dizzy if they rotate ....spark timing has to be spot on for it to run proper.

Is ebay good for buying land rover

you want a valuation....start with .no car is worth more than 2k...theres pleanty of vehicles for sale out there in the sub 2k price range that will work as well as av 10k car...depreciation is a lot lower and arguably reliability will be higher and repair costs lower cos they dont need...

    stupid exhaust question

to be fair its more common in old tractors that stand outside for weeks without being started....empty bake bean tin over the top does help stop it happening...surprising how far the tin will fly if you start on open throttle without removing the tin first.

    stupid exhaust question

on a wet blowy night the wind will lift the tinkly cap... rain will fill the exhaust and bugger yer engine that way :lalala:

    how to change battery connectors

cant you cut the bolts on the existing connectors with a hacksaw and just replace the bolts? should be either an m6 (diameter) with 10mm (spanner size). nuts or m8 with 13 mm nuts otherwise use the hacksaw to cut off the connectors , halfords will have ones with screws in.

disco 1 tips for driving on snow/ice roads?

first off mentally unbolt the brake pedal and throw it out the window.... then strap a raw egg to the go faster pedal. think 100yards ahead and use engine braking and change down the gears before corners ,junctions and chages in gradient. above all keep the speed down , the slower youre going...

Anyone help with this towing question

going back to yer origional problem ...realistically tyre pressures...hard is good, and hitch height .. horizontal or slightly nose down is good, are the easy things to look at. nobody has mentioned the air pressure from passing lorries...keep as far left as possible in your lane as one is...

    M.O.T Tomoz

disco went in this week.... couple of minor meckanicles... steering column uj, balljoints and shocker bush. and points 5 to 16 were where it needs welding......start at the innner front wings, all the seatbelt mountts, some body mounts..... basically the whole floor and inner wheel...

    Here's a dumb one!!

how the front edge of the alpine windows aligns with the rear door pillar on a five door is a dead giveaway. disco 2 has a longer boot section so the front edge of the alpine window is further rearwards.

crock of **** from private seller.

perhaps you should read the rest of the thread aswell cock op bought it with an mot then it failed the next 6 months on , she has now sold the wreck on without an mot...which latter posters are moaning about, god knows why.
