I bought a 200tdi disco in may as a donnor for the 90. i stripped it and weighed in the body (without number plates) in june. I have just got the logbook through this morning and there isnt a part to send off to say its scrapped. Now it did take 7 months for the dvla to send it but what do i do now?

The last paragraph on the last page tells you what to do..........the one titled "scrapping your vehicle"

It says to take it to an authorised treatment facility and they will do the rest. Problem is i stripped it myself and weighed in the body. There used to be a red section for scrapping but that has disappeared

if youve still got the vin plate then obliterate that with anything you can such as burn it with an acetylene torch

then take the number plate and the logbook to yer nearest scrapyard and ask them to sort the paperwork out ( thats what i did and they charged me a fiver )

Thanks johnny i think ill give that a go. I`ve spoke to the scrap metal place where i took the shell and she said just write a letter to dvla and see how that goes. But seen as it took them 7 months to send the logbook out in the first place i`d rather not.

The place that took the body shouldn't have done so without the log book, if the log book wasnt available they should have informed the DVLA of reg/chassis numbers for the vehicle, its highly illegal for them to just crush a car without any documentation...

You can tell the DVLA yourself though who scrapped it and that you are still showing as registered keeper, they will sort the rest out...

just send off the change of owner bit with the details of the new owner that were given to you by the bloke who turned up out the blue and persuaded you to sell it to him for cash. he gave you cash theres no requirement for you to ask for any confirmation of address more than getting him to write summit in the new owner box for you to send off to swansea.

OR as I said follow the instructions on the V5..... either tax it, sorn it, or tell them you don't have it any more...............Just thinking though, if you sorn it your great grandson might be able to register a mitsubishi battle cruiser in your name and only pay £20 billion in weekly tax.

I just took the number plate in. When I scrapped it I cut the vin plate off so week later took all in and sorted it no problems. As long as scrappy has the vin then ok

only troubleb is the current v5 dont give the option to notify scrapping like the old ones did. only option now is transfer to a registered dissmantler....

I cut up a Disco in my own back garden and weighed in the remains of what I didn't keep, or sell of it, at EMR earlier this year.
All they wanted was the log book. They did all the necessarys there and then. JFD.
