    Aircon

Hi, sorry it has taken a while to get back, but don't have internet access at work. Have you bought the valve, hose and gauge as well as the cans? Something like this: R134A CAR AIR CONDITIONING CHARGING HOSE WITH GUAGE on eBay (end time 23-Apr-11 21:44:56 BST)

    Aircon

I buy the self recharge R134a in a can, about £10, carefully put some in the system following instructions. Shut off the engine and listen for leak. The cans are about a tenner but I had to buy a valved hose and pressure guage the first time. If you want I can try and find the info tomorrow...

I have had to do the air con condenser on three of the P38's I have bought. They have all failed in the top left corner, as mentioned above. I get them from here and have had no issues: Range Rover P38 Air Con Condenser with seals oil & dye on eBay (end time 28-Mar-11 15:29:10 BST) They come...

LR/RR virgin newbie needs buying advice please :-)

Hi Phil, You are looking at a P38 Range Rover, I've had a few of these, and have 2 at the moment. I may be mad, but I love them, foibles and all. To start with, do the research, watch them on ebay, see what they sell for - there are loads out there, so don't rush into this. You should be able...

    P38 Incorrect 4th Gear Ratio

If you shop around, you can get proper diagnostic kit plugged in for a reasonable price. Go to an Independent Land Rover specialist who can use a rovercom, autologic or T4 system. There is a specialist in Liverpool who will do diagnostics for £25 a session. Most others should charge around...

    P38 Incorrect 4th Gear Ratio

Now that you have sorted out a lot of the problems, you need to clear the faults with a rovacom, autologic or similar and then see if any of them come back. As Datatek says, gearbox errors come about because of low volts in the system. This can affect the engine ecu and may have put some of...

An economy question for ALL P38 owners...

Hi, from my experience with 4.6 P38's it costs (@ 72p LPG), it works out at £20 per 100 miles (round town) and about £17 per 100 miles on a run. The big difference is when towing, my old P38 DSE did 18 - 20 mpg when towing my twin axle caravan, and IMHO was hopeless at it. I never worked out...

Hi, I'm glad I found this poll, looks like I'm not the only one then. I have had 8 or 9 V8's over the last 30 odd years (depends on how you count!) 3 x rover SD1 V8's 2 x Range Rover Classics (1 x 2 door and 1 x 4 door which I converted from 3.5 carb to 3.9 EFi - so that is 3...
