    Weber Choke

The Weber carb generally needs a slightly longer choke cable. You may be able to get the original to reach, but I never found it satisfactory.

    SII Front Panel in SIII

To keep it legal you must keep the headlights in the wings.

It's been done lots of times, but I've no idea what's involved.

Help please, the only thing we can think off next is a can of petrol and a match

Make sure your brakes are adjusted correctly. If the shoes are having to move too far you will never get a good pedal.

Has anyone put a defender bonnet on a series?

It takes a lot of work to make it look right. Simply using 90 wings isn't the answer, as the apertures in the wings don't line up with the wheels.

    series III petrol fuel pump

I'm sure there is only one type of petrol pump, but I had a new one a couple of years ago and didn't work.

    TD4 registration

Traditionally the production lines are changed to build the next years models during the summer shut down, so they will start making them about September, ready to show at the British Motorshow, traditionally held in October/November, and going on sale about the same time. The dates of the...

    Defender 1970 restoration

I would suggest you first find out what you own. 1970 is about 14 years before the land Rover 90 was produced, and about 20 before it became a Defender

    TD4 top speed?

In my experience a Td4 manual will get to 100mph but not cruise comfortably, and Auto will be struggling, but might just touch it. My auto cruises at 90 quite happily though.

    Series III Temperature sender (again?)

Meant to say in my first post, the sender unit screws into an adaptor, not directly into the head.

    Series III Temperature sender (again?)

Post 1989 is not Ser III, so you can ignore that, go with PRC2505. GPS102 was the Unipart no. Some times other nongenuine suppliers will use the same numbers, but with different letters.

    Series III Temperature sender (again?)

No idea! All Ser IIIs (ignoring V8s) should have the same gauge & sender unit, so I would start by buying a new correct sender unit. 560794 GPS102 Just a thought as I type this, is it 24 volt, in which case ignore what I have just said, as I have no info on them.

When did free road tax start?

It is based on the build date, so some cars registered in early '73, but built in '72, qualify

    How to operate winch

Always a good idea to fit an isolator. Lots of reasons, two good ones are: You have live electricity, with heavy duty cables, going to the front of the vehicle, ready to start a fire in an accident. It makes it vary easy for someone to winch your motor onto a trailer in the middle of the night...

Why can freelander drive well in snow/ice?

Basically you've been told a load of crap by people who either don't know what they are talking about, or are suffereing from Anti Freelander reverse snobbishness (lots of those both on this site and outside) Traction control works by preventing wheels spinning, so why should it cause problems...
