Curious to know about your injector 5. I am having weird startup noises the disappear after a couple of seconds. Aside from your starting issues. Were there any noises or obvious symptoms prior to the non-starting issue that seemed like an injector issue?

thinking at this point of pulling the glowplug and do a quick borescope check of the injector see if there is pooling in the bowl.
I do believe thevTD5 only has 4 glow plugs, pretty sure cylinder 5 doesn't have one.

Ok - Landy is fixed and running! To be honest Im embarrassed to actually tell everyone what the issue was as I feel like Ive wasted so much of peoples time on here.

I have no idea how, or when but the issue was the fuel lines to fuel filter housing were put on wrong after I replaced it. I remember when I did it that I put on white string on the two front lines left and right, so god only knows how I got it wrong. I also checked and rechecked the lines against a pump diagram. From the moment that I changed the FFH the fuel pump got loud and I just never got to the bottom of it. What absolutely has me stumped is how did she run for all those months with them in the wrong order? The garage basically said that as long as the high pressure fuel line was working she would have run, but then after she ran out of diesel probably an air lock or something just interupted everything and she refused to start. Good news is she no has a new fuel pump, crank postion sensor injector seals and copper washers!

The emissions failure at the mot must have been a symptom somehow.

Anyhoo she's running again, just had a run upto Pitlochry and back from Perth and all is well..... for the monent! ;)
