ere my diffs got a whole in it

You might not be able to do all this where you are but when you get it somewhere you can work on it I'd suggest this solution (I did this to mine about 3 years ago): 1. drain oil. 2. wire drill all rusty crap off around hole(s). 3. ku rust any rusty bits. 4. get some bridging compound (the...

    Where's the jack?

The 3 bars are on the roof? I'd take 'em off and put them under the seat before they get nicked...

    Air con or econ?

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly but my mate's TD5 aircon has a mouldy smell when the aircon is first turned on - does anybody know how to fix that? I suspect it needs cleaning out but where to start???

    How do I check?

Looks like a handy device, not seen one of them before. You can do it without though either by buying the oil in a container that has a built-in extending neck or you can thread a hose pipe through the engine bay into the filler hole and gravity feed it in. You'll probably spill some though.

    High Low and Diff Lock

I wouldn't say that - it is wikipedia afterall. It could have worse inaccuracies than my little "approximation"

    High Low and Diff Lock

Yes yes yes I'll be the first to admit a careless use of words but hopefully I can nip a yet-another-tedious-diff-lock-debate in the bud...

    High Low and Diff Lock

Christ there I go again, careless words. :) Anyone who gives a **** about the finer details can go here: Four-wheel drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and doubtless several other places...

    High Low and Diff Lock

The diff lock won't do anything very noticable unless you're driving on slippery surfaces or you have wheels leaving the ground. It locks the front and back axles to turn at the same rate, so you do not want this engaged under normal driving conditions ie on the road. High / low and neutral...

    Road Tax and Discos

what a fooking mess this whole thing is, wtf can't those bunch of stupid fooking muppets keep things fooking simple for a fooking change. fooks sake. and relax. my landy is ok but the wifey's car is 226g/km so that's gonna get hammered. must find out how to hack into dvla and change the...

How fast do these things go? 300Tdi

All this talk of better brakes etc is a poor argument since reaction time is more important - the time taken for you to realise there's a problem and do something about it. Say it took you half a second to react to a problem, going at 70mph you'd travel approx 15 metres before you could do...

It Dont Start, It Does Start, It Dont Start, It Bloody Does!

Sounds to me like the starter motor is broke since it sounds exactly like a problem I had with my first car (a maestro:cool:) and more recently my wife's golf. When it wants to start, it's absolutely fine, when it don't, you get nothing, doesn't even attempt to start. If it is the starter...

    newbie

Depends how much you want to spend and if you can do most of any work yourself. Personally I'd get a 300tdi but I own a 200tdi. I think they're much the same but the 300tdi engine is quieter and a more refined. Listen for loud banging / clunking noises when pulling away and changing gear -...

How fast do these things go? 300Tdi

I'm with you there I rarely go much over 50. I'll go just over 60 on a motorway though to stop the lorries going past which would be irritating for them and me. My attitude is that if anybody has a problem with how slow/fast I'm going, those fools can kiss my ass.

    Missing bulb?

Have a search on the forum I'm sure I read somebody had a 200tdi with indicators in the main light cluster, and a 300tdi without. He took the 200 light cluster and plugged it into the 300 and it worked fine. Like I say though search the forum to make sure, I could be imagining it or sommat.
