    Just unplugged the amplifier connector, and put that bypass plug into the loom. The connector we used was taken from a non-working amplifier we got on eBay. We removed the amp as well to make some space, but that's up to you.

    They should sit on the slightly larger section of the tube, resting against the flange. Then make sure they seat into the recess in the valve body top half. Stem should seat like this (not my fingers. They are PaulP38's)

    The momentary relay only has to be on for enough time for the P38 FOB transmission to unlock or lock the car. i.e. press & hold momentary fob, while you use the P38 fob. Then release both.

    +1 on try the tailgate trick. If where you park makes that a bad idea, you could take Fuse 44 out, which has the same effect as removing the relay.

    Yes but any repair workshop could probably weld a replacement in. Cost vs replacement P38 depends what you want. Yours was getting rusty before the accident anyway. If you don't want to repair yours use it as a donor car for a cheap P38.
