If you still have the old discs and pads refit them exactly the same way as you have fitted the new set. If you still have the same problem then you have fitted them wrong. The thickness of the pads should be irrelevant as the caliper does not change its shape.

I can engage all gears with engine off and running. I am going to book it in with Gumtree 4x4 and they are going to diagnose the problem. Hopefully it wont be to expensive

Update: Spoke to both Land Rover and Lowe & fletcher. LR = £15.03 inc VAT L&F = £8 inc VAT and Carriage.

The temperature when sitting at idle sits normal but when i am driving the needle goes right down low, then at idle again it sits normal, then driving it goes right down low - you get the picture. Will having the system bled cure this?

Took the car to Mr Clutch for a free clutch check. They have said they think its the clutch but dont want to rule out the gearbox. Great help there. They said a new clutch will be around £350.
