    Just to update. I have again tried the 2 new MAFs with the same ending, chugging black smoke and backfiring. I have now fitted a good used one from James Coleman (SAGEM OEM) and tried it, it started but was really rough. I checked for any faults...

    If it intermittently went from lining the tube wall to being a say 90 degrees, it would have impeded air flow. If it started spinning in the flow, who knows what effect it could have.

    Maybe it just moved from lining the tube wall to across the tube at some point when going over a bump for instance.

    The use of a hand held pressure device ( large bladder syringe ) has shown that the actuators on both turbos do work.

    No load on the engine and 1750 rpm will do nothing to the turbo that will open the waste gate.

    Dont forget a sign to hang on the steering wheel " PLUGGED IN" otherwise you will be driving down the road all cozy and warm with a outside socket and a bit of lead dragging behind :oops: :D. J

    It's an electric one so plugged into a socket on the outside of the garage (or even inside if i feel all fancy) and then just a Hive remote control plug (or just a time plug) to switch it on. It triggers the blower fans when the coolant is hot...

    Had electric preheater in Canada, really great to get into a slightly warm car when it was minus 40C outside.

    Thanks for the ever useful info. Half the clips are missing on sub box that side so will have a proper look behind that as the speakers in it don't pop any more when I turn the ignition off with the stereo on so may well be a bit green and soggy...

    Water ingress in the nearside rear quarter is not unknown or corroded connectors. Have you looked in the spare wheel well? The tailgate seals are a know problem with an official mod to fix the leaks, bend the flange on which the seal is mounted...

    Sound advice Datatek. I’ll check the pump’s functioning as suggested. No I didn’t follow the RAVE procedure for bleeding the brakes. I’ll go online and do this over the weekend. I'll report back 👍

    Firing the parts cannon is an expensive way of fixing things. Does the brake pump run? It should run every 3 to 5 depressions of the brake pedal. If it doesn't run then check the fuses but it's likely that the pressure switch has failed. The...
