Hi everyone,
just got my 1st (and likely last lol) 110 ht defender and joined here to pick brains as i already need help but will leave that for the proper page.
Yes, 1st defender in my late 50's..gotta start sometime :)
Pic of my 110, ex uk...
You’ve built a monster truck! That’s what my lad said when he stuck his head into the garage, and to be honest he isn’t far wrong.
Tyres fitted to the new rims, rear extended arches fitted, new power steering pipes in, fuel pipes fitted to the...
A galvanised chassis and originality will make this desirable. £8k sounds achievable. A new set of galvanised body cappings and a polish up of the bodywork would work wonders.
I would agree with the 8k maybe a bit more depending on condition of other things.
Although I am not looking for a V8 so these prices will be lower I paid £2250 18months ago for an ‘89 110 station wagon with no v5 (exported but never left) and...
That would polish up pretty good I should think, good enough anyway.
Where would you stop though?
Once the bodywork is done, then it's the interior, then the engine etc

Got a fair bit more progress to show you guys! Stripped the block of front cover, cam chain and sprockets, camshaft, pistons & rods, crankshaft and sump. Here's some pics...
Then I cleaned the sump...
Then I removed...
The power steering pump fitted, steering box seals changed cleaned and painted, with new pipes on order. Steering column fitted with some new uj’s. New fuel lines fitted along with a new galv fuel tank bracket and YRM stainless fitting kit.
Rear...
I’ve got one too (a metal locking cubby box, not stained curry tubs!) to fit to my 90.
You can but internal trays for cubby boxes from the likes of Mud Stuff, but at a price.
Greenlane association or local off road clubs for green lanes.. If you want off road fun, go for a pay and play site here you can get stuck and winch away to your hearts’ content.
One of the joys of this kind of work is finding you need a new tool. Got some holes to countersink in a tight spot sourced an air drill from Fleabay.
Izzy has now moved into the garage and is up on axle stands. Coolant has been dumped and the...
I've seen a few more jobs to do while I was under there. There's a crack in the exhaust pipe near the rear silencer and the brake pads are getting thin. The exhaust was a stainless one which I fitted in 2012, so that's thirteen years it's lasted...
