I guess your saw my Invoice and decided that your Dealer was ripping you off??!!

Now, Datatek might observe that due to the vehicle you are buying parts for, the counter has identified you as a trade customer and that you warrant a volume discount.

G~

:D - Might have to enquire about a loyalty card of some description!!

Personally I'm Disgusted that the main dealer can have such a Varied price for the same item !
I am too....I thought the prices were set nationally - that way no matter where you are you can be assured of the right pricing structure....:(

Someone write a letter to the daily mail about how main dealers are rip off artists. That should give them a front page story for the next 6 months as their ground breaking undercover journalism uncovers more shocking truths.

Funny you should say that , I tried once when I found out Toyota have a staff bonus scheme for selling disks with every pad change and battery's with proof the paper turned their nose up!

Thankyou fantastic mr saint!

Gearbox all done :) although I got 5.6l out and only managed to get the same back in??

But my magnets didn't even seem as furred up as the pics of you saint. And my old oil was more reddish than brown aswell.

Seems abit smoother though :)

Should I drive it for abit and see if I can get more oil in?

Did you fill as per RAVE by allowing the gearbox to come up to temp, and fill with engine running then going through the gears etc??

Take it for a drive.....make sure it changes gear smoothly etc...then come back, allow it to cool back to 40degC or so, then start engine and recheck....wouldn't do it any harm to have a recheck! But you have to check it at the right temp to get the correct level....

Glad it went well for you, and I hope the guide gave you some help!!

It took ages to fill with the pressure bottle I bough, I'm thinking that because it was ver slowly filling with new oil that it possibly went past 40deg. Which opened the valve to the oil cooler?? Does that sound feasable?

How quickly did you'd fill up saint??

Right. Here my 10p worth.

DO NOT cheap out and buy the green pressure bottle from homebase just cuz it's £10 cheaper. The internal diameter of the hose is too small and doesn't deliver the oil quick enough.

The one saint bought, the hozelock one has a much faster flow.

Otherwise you won't be able to get enough oil in before the valve opens to the cooler and it come back out again

Sorry for the late reply - been out to visit my sister (Her birthday and all)

Took probably 10 minutes to fill 5 litres or so, so not quick, but did the job ....I filled the first 5 litres with the engine off to fill the pan...then when I got a dribble out, I switched the engine on and then continued to fill again the remaining couple of litres until the box was at the right temp....and going through the gears etc....and I am not sure there is a valve to the cooler...I believe it is a continuous loop....

Apologies, as I asked this on another thread but didn't get any takers. So ........ when I changed oil on my GM box there had been no issues but pan when emptied of oil had silver sheen on it. I've done approx 1k miles since change, to date no issues(fingers crossed tightly now). Therefore should I have TC changed now, just in case. Or leave well alone, or a.n.other measure?
Thanks in advance to the gurus who may answer.

How much fluid was changed? All or Partial?

If it was all, it may be an idea to drain the fluid again, and see if the metallic sheen is still there....if it is it could be a sign soemthing is wearing out...

If only a partial refill was done, if you drain the fluid you *may* still get a sheen of metal in it as it has mixed with old oil which was carrying it...

With the GM box, oil changes will only delay the inevitable...it won't prevent it!
