Hi guys,as some of you know my rear diff went bang just over a week ago.I know exactly what has caused this to fail.

So for the benifit of the garage owner where I bought the car from,what has caused the diff to fail??,as he has said I/we don't know what we'er talking about!!!!:mad:

I will show him this thread,when he comes to look at the car in the morning!!!

water in it.
poor servicing.
possible bush failure.
VCU failure.
taking off at 6000 RPM.
"yumping" over obstacles and heavy landing.
sudden shock loading.
poor set-up on assembly.

The Vcu has failed on my car,but the garage owner is calling me stupid and saying I don't know what I'm talking about,as I get all my info on here!!!!

Stupid in what way? Get him to exlain in what way he thinks differently....

If the VCU has failed, it is likely that he will be getting a bill for a new IRD in the near future as well :(.
 
Hi , if the car has been ran , with mismatched tyres , that in turn stresses the VCU , that in turn stresses the IRD and the FINAL DRIVE , tyres on a freelander should be replaced in fours , same make/model/size i beleve this to be one of the main causes of drive train failure on the freelander one :eek:
 
Get your idiot of a garage owner to ring Austen at bell engineering that way he can't dispute the facts.

I agree with vcu failure and or mismatched tyres or new tyres placed on front.
 
you can have 2 new tyres but must be put on the back and never ever mix them like Michelin latitudes and syncrones will not go together and Austen will definitely tell them he has the knowledge and is repairing them all the time .arise sir Austen

Even STRATSTONE L R DEALER were CLUELESS on this , that says it all , if they dont know or could not give a toss , your normal run of the mill garage will be clueless also :eek::mad:
