Hi all i noticed a wuring noise coming from the alternator area so i ve the alternator seen to , bushes etc, but the noise is still there could it be the tensioner . any suggetions lads.:confused::confused: ps its a 4.6 1999 .

I've got the same issue mate, was planning on looking at the tensioner when I change the belt and valley gasket this summer. When I put a long screwdriver onto the tensioner bracket and the other end to ear, it's making a right racket so likely I think.

If you take the belt of and check all guide/ tension pullys including alternator for play smoothness ect

I had same issue. Had alternator refurbed but noise still there (convinced it was coming from alt). I'll do the same & check the rest of the pulleys - i guess the noise can get thrown around the belt quite easily.

check to see if you have the plastic or metal idler pulley by the adjuster. if plastic, get it changed for the metal.

you dont want this to happen to you.

Viscous fan mount? The mount is a bloody great threaded shaft, hard to see how it could make a noise:confused:
