I am in Canada and see lots of Jeeps with plows. I see the same ones
winter after winter, so I figure they must work ok although I don't have
first hand knowledge.
For rust spots....
On a CJ or Wrangler, behind the seat at the base of the roll bar. In
front of the passenger side leaf spring on the inside of the frame rail
box. At the very end of the frames by the rear cross member. And check
the body mounts. Also check for rust or a crack where the steering box
anchors on.
Usually either the frames are clean and almost rust free or they are a
total disaster and rotted right out. I haven't seen many in between
that.
