hi all,
my mates got a td4 and it wont start when its hot, ive seen previous threads about crankshaft sensor which is fine but there was more advice from previous threads but because i cant work a dam puter i cant get it back on screen, and more advice please...

it will be more than likely you cam shaft censor located on the top of the engin left hand side just one bolt holding it in I carry a spare nowadays hope this helps

As OP said, it could be injectors, search for "leak back test" and you'll get the advice you need for that.

As to testing the cam shaft sensor, get a can of freeze spray and when it's hot and wont start, spray the sensor, if t starts after that then you need a new sensor, Rimmer Bros sell them for reasonable prices.

If it's a knackered injector it will be more costly, but still home mechanic fixable :)

Do you have to remove the sensor and spray the whole thing, or can you do it "in situ"

Give it a good blast in situ, I did when mine was on the way out (M47R in a Rover 75) and it started, cheaper to keep a can of feeze spray than a sensor too ;)

Don't forget the leak back test, hot diesel is thinner than cold diesel and more likely to lose pressure past the injector seals :)

Do doozles suffer vapour lock?

I dunno for sure, but, considering the huge pressures involved in diesel injecction systems and the compressibility of gas (vapour) I'd be very surprised if they did.

If I'm wrong someone will soon correct me :)
