Hi

Having a mare. Mrs driving car shudders- limps home. Doesn't start AA man suspected no fuel even though it showed there was. Anyway, he topped it up then noticed air in fuel line.

He then topped up the filter to try to push air out allegedly. Didn't work. It starts with easy start but doesn't hold on its own.

So i then stupidly took it to a local garage who has dicked around for 5 days  and thought it was cam sensor coz he said he got that code  anyway the sensor has not sorted it.(although not convinced he knew how to fit properly anyway)..so annoyed.

Now probably have to take it to main dealer as mrs screaming. Spent 200 on a hire car. This geezer prob wants some dough for playing with it...

Any ideas what it could be :blub: ? It turns over.. Apparently fuel pump working....I called an indie and he reckons it is the wax thermostat...either way worried its a biggie.

Please help me thank you

Pop over to the aptly named 'Introduce Yourself' section before the rabble get restless and then tell us something useful like year/model/engine type :welcome:

I'd be looking to find the reason for air bubbles in the fuel line before investigating electrickery gubbins.....mostly cause I know nothing about sorcery and magic but partly because no engine is going to be happy with air in the fuel

Agreed fella. To be fair the AA geezer tried and topped up the filter to try to bleed the engine....but it then wouldn't start which he was stumped about and clearly the air is getting in from somewhere...the indie told me on the phone though that by doing this the car will never start...wax stat he reckoned???

Try changing the fuel filter it can give the symptoms you describe, can pull up some strange faults codes when blocked too. Not sure about the air in the fuel, could mean summit more technical but for the ease of changing it I would start with that.

has it got fuel in the tank, faulty gauges can happen.

Yes it has. The aa chap wondered given the shaking my wife described and he thought that may explain the air in fuel line so he put 7 plus another 7 litres from the petrol garage. So there is fuel now....He then got on the phone to his mate at land rover who told him to check the filter and top it up but it wouldn't start. The garage thinks the pump is ok but has no idea. He changed the cam sensor and wanted to investigate the timing belt but I have no faith in him. I called this indie and he reckons the filling of the filter has screwed it and mentioned the wax thermostat... I am taking it to land rover now to be spanked because I just want it sorted....here is hoping all ideas welcome. I should say the car was running well so it's all weird.

Best of luck with this, please let us know the outcome.[/

Now my mrs is telling me for the first time:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: that there was a smell of burning from the exhaust while driving home....not sure if this is relevant or whether she is making things up.

So it's in land rover...met with a nicely suited chap...reminds me of a private hospital...anyway told him symptoms he reckons fuel sender unit.... Butl diagnostics machines down so have to wait...please g-d it's not very serious at that f ing labour rate.
