Had the tub off to do some chassis work over the summer and had to obviously disconnect the rear lights. Labeled them all up drew some diagrams n that but guess what - now its back together and those damn lights are playing silly games. Been out all afternoon with a volt meter but I can't make head or tail I seem to have a connection between every wire and and voltage everywhere and so forth...

Anyway I have drivers side brake fog and indicator lights working but on passenger side I have only the reg plate light.

Question is how standard are the wire colours? And is it possible to get a colour coded diagram or summat just for the rear lights? All a bit far fetched really but I'm loathed to pay someone to do it for me and I'm at the end of my wits.

Its a 1989 110

Should of taken close up pics before ya disconnected owt.. Like what I did

Plenty of wiring diagrams & manuals etc on the web.. Google for em..

Black to earth , you should have one from tail/stop light and one from no plate light , one from rev light and one from indicator. They all go to multiconnector and then earth pointy on body.
I red wire from no plate lamp and stop/tail lamp go to two way connector and then to red with trace wire from harness
The green with brown is the rev light feed . the green with red trace is left turn goes to indicator HTSH

replaced all earth connectors and as some of the lights are working and they all share the same earth i think its fair to say the earths are working properly.

red and tacr2man cheers thats v helpful I'll have a go in the morning.

I think some of the problem is that a previous owner has tried to wire in some sort of work light/interior light combo and as a result their are about a million wires in there and a big relay and plenty of unsused connectors on both sides.

There is a decent wiring diagram in the owners handbook (still available new), other than that there is one in the Haynes plus all the usual on-line places.
A poor earth will give all sorts of problems and there can seem to be no logic to it, I would start with them making sure all connections are good and you have a GOOD contact to earth.
