After having my hicap 2 days now I'm fed up of the dodgy stereo wiring! Eventually I'd like to stick it in a raptor dash but it'll have to do for now.

I want to swap it over to my old headunit but it's hard wired in! A lot of the wires have been cut for some weird reason so I plan on just taping over them until somebody who knows what they're looking at can sort it.

I'm going to buy some wire, connectors etc and attempt to rewire it all (how hard can it be eh?) how's best to go about it?

What do I need, a live, negative and memory? Also what amp cable and fuses?

It's already got it's ignition live from an orange cable. Is this something wiper related?

I was going to simply wire a constant live from battery (what cable will I need for this?
Earth it to the closest bolt/screw.
Connect the ignition live to this orange wire.
And then plug the speaker wires into the ISO block as well...

Where do the fuses go and what amp

I've just disconnected all the old stereo wires and started fresh running earth and power direct from the battery, two power amps behind the seats, 6 x 9 speakers and a sub in the back

Yeah I think that's what I'm going to do
The more I remove the more joins and ****ty connections in the wire I find!

The ignition live is coming off an orange and white wire which I'm not sure what it is?

I didn't bother with an ignition live I ran both wires to a permanent live that way I don't need the ignition on to have the stereo on

Ahhh fair enough! I'm getting there, wanted to take my time as I'm a long way off being an electrician lol

I ran mine from the battery along the back of the passenger seat,: under the middle seat, across the transmission tunnel and up the back of the fuse box an it comes out just behind the clock. Then the opposite way for speaker and amp cables.

Similar to where I've ran mine. Well I've just tested it, all works so just to tidy some wiring up and try mount it as I've only got a ****ty mount at the moment until I save for my raptor dash

I found the bullet connectors in the back of the dash so rewired from there. Ran continuous and switched connections down to the central fuse box, then back up to the radio plugs. Much neater (there'd been a couple of different head units in there over the years) and gets rid of the inline fuses stuffed behind the radio.

I've got a fuse in the battery box as wanted to keep it close to the terminal. What amp should this be? Think it's 5A at the moment.

Well everything works and it hasn't killed me so it must be okay

Although I haven't drove her yet haha...
